He gave me an verbal estimate of 16 hours labor ($800) to do the water heater and peripherals, and remove and replace the washer dryer. For that, he billed me 10 hours labor ($537.50), which is outrageous from any reasonable person's viewpoint for draining a water heater and disconnecting a washer/dryer. I'm left with my old water heater and a washer in dryer in my living room which he wants two hours of labor and disposal fee to remove. He isn't anywhere close to finishing the job and won't be given the opportunity, needless to say. He is very methodical and spends lots of time on the "learning curve"...researching, analyzing work that was hired to do but not familiar enough with or qualified to do, and bills for every minute. Turned into a very expensive "fishing expedition" and boondoggle. The good news is, as a first-time homeowner, I learned my lesson, the next time I will get a written estimate and get licensed people.
