MITCHELL'S FLOOR COVERINGS

When we started to look into hardwood floors, a friend of mine recommended Mitchell's Floor Coverings. My friend sold high end carpet and had worked with them on a number of jobs. I was also referred to 3 other hardwood companies. After doing a lot of research and getting quotes from all 4 companies, we decided to go with Mitchell's. They were not the cheapest, but also not the most expensive. Our primary reasons for deciding to use Mitchell's was the level of service we received up front. Mitch brought countless samples directly to our home (we didn't see his showroom until after the floors were installed) and spent a lot of time educating us on styles, quality, installation and care and maintenance.
It took approximately 3 days for the demolition and 6 days for the installation. They did an excellent job on the demolition as well as on the installation of the new wood. The workers were professional, courteous and very skilled. We've received numerous compliments on the floors and are extremely happy with our choice of wood and flooring company.

They were fantastic, they were on time, and they were professional. The people that came to do the installation cleaned up after themselves. The woman that did the estimate was great and gave me some suggestions on how to get the price down.

They made good on their price. They did satisfy us.

Beginning in January Mitchell's Floor Coverings provided and installed laminate bathroom floors in 2 bathrooms. It is an excellent job. Early in January they provided measurements and carpet samples for me . I made my selections and then decided to refinish the living room floor and one large bedroom floor. The carpets were ordered and as soon as the floors were dry the carpets were installed. ( Feb. 7, 8 and 11) They did an excellent job of measuring, allowing me to change plans mid-job and then installing the carpets.

Everything went very smoothly. Everyone was on time, reliable and professional. Work was completed as discussed.
The only minor issue I had was with the installation of the base boads. Because our living room flooring was not originally installed properly (not Mitchell floorings fault), it caused the installation of the base boards to look a little off. I wish the representative from Mitchell's would have told me this would happen prior to the installation of the new base boards. I may not have commissioned that portion of the work had I known.
That said, overall, it was a pleasure to work with this company and this part of the job was only 19% of what I spent. The other 81% of the job came out great.

The whole process was good from beginning to start. The designer we dealt with (Laura) was very knowledgeable. The installers were very professional and did a very good, especially on our stairs.

Responsive. Knowledgable about products. Work on schedule. Easy to work with.

It turned out beautiful!

Another satisfying experience with Mitchell's Floor Coverings, Inc.

Do's:
We went to Mitchell's to get a high end line of carpeting. I went in search of Karastan, but was shown and fell in love with Fabrica, instead. They have a huge selection of really special patterned carpets, unique, unlike any others, and engineered and dyed top of the line. I am really glad they steered us toward this line.
The staff was professional, courteous, patient, and very skilled. They moved all our furniture very carefully and not a thing was damaged or left out of place. They had a system that enabled them to rewire our sounds and TV system, too, which was really a surprise. They were open to my concerns and comments about small things. They got done on time, even working extra hours on the first day when they discovered that the padding under our old carpet had entirely disintegrated and needed shovelling out.
As per my previous rating when they refinished our wood floors and also laid new wood floors, this project was made possible through the considerable capability of their consultant, Laura Littrell. She was very knowledgeable, came to our house several times to measure, determine the best choices, and on the days of installation to supervise. She discovered that our existing under floor structure was uneven, went uphill a bit, and thus would not be suitable for wood flooring. Nor would that--my original plan--have looked as good and rich and appropriate as what she guided us to select. She came several times to look at the various color swatches and tested them in many, many areas, since our house has full outdoor lighting, which makes the colors change with sun and shade at various times throughout the day. It was very difficult for us to make this color/shade selection alone.
Laura made the prospect of reflooring virtually our entire house something that was doable and a pleasure. Whatever we paid over and above a cheaper estimate was well worth the extra cost to have her in charge.
She also freely shared other design suggestions about wall paint colors and area rugs.

Again, another excellent experience with Mitchell's Floor Coverings, Inc. (They previously refinished our existing wood floors)

Do:
Service was on date and mostly on time, with the exception of the baseboards. These should have been ordered at the same time the floor boards were ordered, so they could have been finished (clear finish) and ready to install. As it was, they were installed a week later than planned.
Staff was professional, courteous, skilled.
The overall work is beautiful, we are thrilled.
The red oak pre-finished flooring is by Somerset.

Don't:
Don't forget to ask about the covers for floor heating duct vents. these were not included in their proposal, although Laura tried to find them for us; our vents were old and odd sizes, so no standard sizes were available. I volunteered to do this on our own expense. Found an excellent place that specializes in making wooden floor vents that have dampers; they charged $25/vent, and came within a week of ordering: WQood Ventures, P.O. This project went extremely well.

Do's:
Staff was on schedule and on time.
Staff was enthusiastic, professional, skilled.
Their work was excellent, the floors look better than new.
The consultant with Mitchell's--Laura Littrell--was superb. She guided us in this process and others to follow; she responded to all of our calls and questions within 24 hours or less; came to the house quickly after I contacted her, was on time, on task, and had excellent ideas and suggestions for all our projects. Furthermore, Laura was extremely knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. (See our additional projects for new flooring and new carpeting.) We needed someone to guide us through the entire process of redoing all our flooring, and we could not have done it (and maintained our marriage!!) without her help.
The project could have been done for less money, I'm sure, but having a consultant to guide us through all our flooring was worth its weight in gold.

Don'ts:
Don't forget to ask about whether or not they also refinish the baseboards; we discovered this was not included in the proposal, and had our handyman do this separately; he cleaned, sanded, and refinished the baseboards, replaced them, and applied caulking between the wood baseboards and the walls.

Great! Price was a little high, but the work was excellent. Workers were on time, courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and did a great job with floor preparation and hardwood installation.

Very pleasant to deal with. They were on time, gave quick estimates and had great work start-up. High quality installation was done very well and within the time frame they estimated. Cost was less than 1% above Home Depot. Special Note: Do not provide complete finish work (repair/patch/paint), except for the wood itself. However, no one else offered this either, except at an astronomical price.

Great experience. Salesman, Dave Bone, was great. Scheduler, Melissa, was great. Installers, Arnie and A.J., were terrific. The whole team is conscientious, thorough and timely.

THIS COMPANY WAS RECOMMENDED TO US BY A FRIEND. THEY HAVE A HUGE SELECTION OF FLOORING TO CHOOSE FROM AND THEY TOOK AN IMMENSE AMOUNT OF TIME ASSISTING US IN CHOOSING THE LAMINATE FLOORING FOR OUR HOME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE INTERESTED IN CARPET, MARBLE, ANY TYPE OF FLOORING. THEY REALLY TOOK THE TIME TO DO IT RIGHT AND MADE SURE WE WERE SATISFIED WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT.
