I took the first day off work to be home for the installation (I was told up front it would take at least two days to complete the installation). Shan showed up right on time and he and his crew (Damien and Jose) put down tarps over my wood floor and carpet before they started. I was nervous having someone in the attic, but everything work out great. They removed all of the old duct work, put extensions on the existing vents, installed new coolant lines, and managed to get the new furnance and plenum (I think that is what it was called) installed during the first day. They cleaned everything up at the end of day one, even though I told them they could leave it until tomorrow. On the second day, I had to go to work. I told them that I would not be there, and they agreed to come early so my wife could let them in. They arrived at 6:30 am, so my wife was not late for work. They installed a new outside unit (a TRANE). Do not know anything more about the second day, other than I got a call at 3:00pm to say they were finished, and wanted to know if I wanted them to lock up the house.
I walked in the house about 6:00 pm. It was hot outside, probably approaching 100 degrees. When I opened the door, I was hit with a blast of 70 degree air! It was great!!! Normally, we set the air at 73 to 75, but I asked Shan to set it at 70, just to see what it would do. The greatest part about the new installation was EVERY room was 70 degrees! Before, the living room and kitchen were comfortable, but the back bedrooms were not. The smallest bedroom was alway warm, no matter what temperture we set the air at. After the installation, the air was uniform through out the house. Every room was was cool!!!
I am not going to even go into the cost savings (estimated at 30% ove the old unit), because that was not the most important thing to my wife and I. Comfort and air quality was what it was all about!
I did my research on the internet; checked on the brand of air conditioner I wanted (one of Consumer Reports top 3). I was apprehesive about the installation, but Shan and U.S Air Conditioning and Heating surpassed my expections. I would give them an A+!
I have a 7 week old baby, so I was looking for guidance and help.
He did NOT fix the problem, but sold me a thermostat for $175, which I found later for $45. He also charged me $200 for cleaning, which should have been $79, according to his website. I asked for a warranty since he was replacing the thermostat.
When he replaced the air filter, he was going to leave with it hissing - I had to ask for him to re-do his work so it was quiet.
I called a week later when the exact same problem occurred. He took 8 hours to come.
I would encourage everyone to go elsewhere. They will rip you off and not fix your problem.
