I contacted Steve back in December for a quote to "revive" our lawn which was in very bad shape.  As a new homeowner, I have tried everything I could up to that point to bring our lawn back to life.  He fully explained what he thought was wrong with our lawn and went into detail about the steps he would to take to fix it.  He had the best price compared to a couple of others.  However I did not get services done until March, a few months later.  Steve was very patient in this respect; but he still remembered me when I called back - the initial quote stayed the same.
Steve and his assistant came out on a Saturday morning to make sure that our sprinkler system was up to par.  He found that a few sprinkler heads were inefficient so they replaced them.  A broken pop-up sprinkler was replaced.  In a failed attempt to cap off one sprinkler head several weeks prior, I had inadvertently cracked a pvc slip joint - Steve even fixed that problem.
The next morning was when the real work began.  All the "dead" stuff was extracted from the lawn using a "power rake" machine.  Once that was taken care of, they proceeded to re-seed, apply fertilizer and a few bags of topsoil compost.  It was ugly at first, which Steve did fully explain beforehand that it would be.  But just like with many things that need improving they need to be broken down and built back up.
When the work was done, Steve explained the watering schedule that I'd have to follow for the next two to three weeks.  We could see results during the second week.  Shortly after that we had 2 - 3 inches of brand new grass!  At the end of the first month I was already mowing twice a week - mowing is so much easier now because of the de-thatching. Steve delivered:  We now have one of the best looking lawns in the neighborhood.
Not only did Steve and his crew give us a healthy lawn, he provided me with knowledge.  What I needed was a lawn "coach."  I already had all the lawn tools needed to keep our lawn looking its best - Steve provided the "mental" tools.  And that alone is worth a lot.
