After some calls they finally started the project 2+ weeks after initial verbal bid. By this time our General Contractor was pretty much done already on the interior of the remodel, so a next wave of dust and noise would start.
The initial part of work was completed within 2 weeks, but the results were far from "pretty quiet". In fact, it was almost identical to before. We let Custom Air know their solution had little impact. I have to say that Martin was responsive to this and said he was going to find a way. At this point I suggested several methods to fix it (since my background is audio engineering) and he let me to believe he explored those options.
On August 15 they send me a bill for $6,800 dollars. With the work not completed I wasn't going pay them. This was also $1800 above the verbally quoted amount.
After this they came back repeated times to try to "Fix" the problem. Note that they never did the "proper" fix (i.e. sound capture chamber/box), only mainly quick hacks. None of their solutions had much impact, except for the last one which lowered the noise-floor in the room by 4db (the verbal request had been 10-20db of reduction). I let them know this was still far from what we had talked about, and I suggested that we look at a new AC/Heater unit, for which I'd pay for. No response to this. The current noise-floor in the room is 39-40dB. It started at 44db.
On Feb2, he came in un-announced, threatened to sue us, even questioned why I wanted to have it quiet including insults etc.
I gave him the $5000 of the original quote and asked him to leave. I'll bring in a new company to properly fix it.

By all means stay away from this company. It's a "hack job" company at best with an owner who's unprofessional. Maybe that's why there's no reviews on Angie's list. I'd have never hired this company had it not been for our G.C recommending them. Please note that our G.C also no longer uses them.
