They did a good job, they did it for me even though it was not their work. Nobody else could do it for me so they did it which is really great of them. I trust them and I would use them again.

Gem Plumbing, though we suppose to trust them from the neighborhood, but it turns it is just the same as any other lousy providers. On top of that, they seem reserves no basic human values. First, they sent a guy to fix our AC, he said there’s leakage and put some refrigerator and then told us it should last until the end of the summer. The repairman was very friendly though, but his estimate was indeed not very accurate. Also I am billed for one 1hr 15 minutes while he was here only for maximal 30 minutes. They are totally liars!!! After a week, our AC stopped working and we called their owner, there’s no compromise he would offer us to fix the situation for reduced price or for free . Imagine after paying almost 400 bucks and only worked for a week. I definitely think the owner should have some pride in its operation particularly in serving his own neighborhood. Business is one thing, morality is another, particularly in the same neighborhood. Not only they are NOT competent in what they are doing but their moral is also questionable. I have two little children home, suffering the inner heat over 90 degrees seem create no moral guilt for the owner of Gem Plumbing. Remember Sierra ***** is not Hollywood Boulevard, that you can screw them once and never come back. Perhaps selling dollar tree hot dogs to tourists in Hollywood is a better endeavor for the owner of Gem Pluming. How shameful…

All went well. I was very pleased with the results. I have used Gem Plumbing before for other jobs. I have been pleased with the quality of their work.

In the last 3 years I have had a series of issues with a newer house. I have had Gem out multiple times and the overall performance is inconsistent. There were several items 1) a faucet leak and 2) clogged drain, that I have had them out 3 or 4 times to no permanent resolve over the last 3 years. I finally called another plumber for a second opinion and they provided solutions and options that were never mentioned by the team from Gem. I have since replaced Gem as my "go to" plumber with another.

We've used them several times over the years. While they do a good job, they're very expensive. Quality of the work was an A. They did some other stuff previously. They did a good job but they were never cheap. They're local and convenient. A lot of folks use them because they've been around a long time.

Everything was excellent. They had to rip out the old disposal, and replace it with up to date materials. They replaced all of the pipes as well. I was there when he did the work. The guy who came out was Aaron, and he did an exceptional job for me. I exclusively use this company, and will use no one else. I have been using them for at least 10 years. I call them, they do it.

I contacted GEM to install two tankless water heaters. GEM was recommended to me for plumbing work by my painter who has performed excellent work for me on a number of my properties for many years. The GEM owner in charge of plumbing met with me.
I was initially impressed with his apparent knowledge and the way that he presented himself. We discussed the work and he submitted a bid.
At about the time that I met with GEM to get a bid for the water heaters, an A/C condenser stopped working. I spoke with the GEM owner that I met with and he said that GEM did A/C work as well as plumbing. He said that GEM Plumbing has two divisions, plumbing and air conditioning. He said that his partner ran the air conditioning division.
I met with the owner in charge of air conditioning and accepted his bid to relocate and replace the condenser.
The owner in charge of A/C was very surly and disagreeable. He complained about the layout of the house, claiming that it made doing the job too hard and that the existing equipment was unsatisfactory to his standards in one way or another.
He was about as unprofessional as a businessman can be.
He agreed to meet with me on multiple occasions and was late by a couple of hours.
He constantly complained about my house and about life in general. He has a glass is half empty attitude.
The GEM installation workmen crushed the ducts in the attic space restricting the flow of the cooled air. The GEM A/C owner claimed that his men were not responsible even though the only workmen in the attic space at the time of the damage were the GEM employees. I pointed out that the ducts were not damaged before GEM’s employees worked in the attic and that no one other than GEM employees had been in the attic space.
He pretty much deflected any possible blame for anything by claiming that the existing conditions were unacceptable. GEM did not perform any corrective work and I later hired another contractor to replace the crushed ducts.
The GEM owner in charge of A/C did apologize about some of his behavior. He claimed that his wife had serious health problems and that he was distracted. He stated that he has become old and cranky and is considering leaving the business. He repeatedly said, and quot;I do not know if I want to do this any more.and quot;
My relations with the other GEM owner seemed much more harmonious and I was anxious to move forward with the tankless water heaters. I made an appointment with the owner in charge of plumbing. I rearranged my schedule because, as I told the GEM plumbing owner, I was anxious to get the work done.
The tankless water heater work had been delayed because of the need to do some demolition which exposed subfloor conditions. This area was otherwise inaccessible and we needed to identify how the gas hook up could be installed. When the floor was removed and the cavity below it exposed, I tried to schedule the meeting with the GEM owner in charge of plumbing to see how site conditions affected his bid and how the work would be performed.

On the morning of the meeting, he called to reschedule. He said that he wanted to meet with his insurance representative at the time scheduled for our meeting. I complained that I had cancelled my meetings, and that I agreed to meet with him in the middle of the day, because I needed the water heater work to proceed. I added that I had mentioned these facts when we scheduled the meeting.
He said that meeting with his insurance representative was more important than meeting with me and that, in any event, GEM would not start any work until next year at the earliest, so what was the hurry?
That ended any meaningful discussion. I decided that he was as unprofessional as the A/C owner and I did not reschedule our meeting.
I strongly recommend against using this company.

The work was fine. They get the job done. It was expensive and the worker that did the plumbing tried to charge us for his travel from his last job to this job. Only, we live less than 1 mile from the Gem business. So, we should not have gotten charged for his time to travel from his last job to our location. In the end after several conversations, they corrected the travel error. We would use them again because they are a local, small business and we want to support that even if they are a bit more expensive.

The work they did was good. The problem was they did things without asking. We were planning on having an area in the house remodeled but it was dripping and we had some laundry things there that were dripping. I called them to come and stop the drip because you don't want these things dripping forever. It was going to be 3 or 4 months before that area of the house got remodeled. He came and he didn't ask a thing and he changed the whole heads and he charged me some exorbitant amount and he never asked me if that's what I wanted. I would have been happy if he just turned the faucet off. They were my plumber for 4 or 5 years. What I don't like about them is that they're too independent. I like them because they're capable and they know what they are doing. Their pricing is high. I don't think they're very professional.

Very good. Plumbers are good and friendly. Most of them have patience by writing back and forth. They told me what the problem is and what they do and explain how to solve it. The price seems a bit high but they are very close to my home and easy to communicate (through writing and gesturing).

We have used Gem plumbing for a few smaller jobs over the years. This paricular job was part of a bigger home project. We did get comparable bids and all came back in the same price range. Gem ALWAYS does the job! They are thorough, clean, dependable and so professional. I highly recommend Gem Plumbing. They do the job RIGHT. I love that I can count on them. They really are the best plumbing people we have ever used.

Sewer backed-up late Sunday night causing toilet to overflow and sewage line to back-up into the tub. I called Gem Plumbing at about 7:45am on Monday and they said they'd be out sometime between 1 to 5pm at a cost of $98/hour plus a $15 equipment usage fee. Sean and Jon arrived at about 2:30pm and snaked the system removing the blockage and a significant amount of roots. Snaking was complete in about a hour. Total cost is not yet known (they'll bill me), but Sean noted it would be less than $150 once the extra linage fee for using an extra 75 feet of snake line.
Overall, it went well. Sean and Jon were both very personable and professional. In addition, Sean took some time to patiently answer all my questions and provide recommendations for future maintenance.
Although I hope I never need to, I would gladly use Gem Plumbing again in the future.

Our electric hot water heater broke. Gem sent a plumber the same day I called. Even though it was an electric hot water heater, which is apparently a rarity in our area, the plumber carefully diagnosed the problem and fixed it. The two people from Gem I interacted with were friendly and professional. I would definitely go with them again.

The hot water in our guest bathroom wasn't working and somebody who did the water heater in the guest house said we probably had to open up the wall. And then the gentleman from Gem Plumbing said we did not have to open up the wall and that we just had to figure out which model the water heater was. So he fixed it and we did not have to knock down the wall.

The city of Sierra M**** has high water pressure, which wears on fixtures and soft water heaters. After a flood resulting the failure of our water heater we asked Gem to install a pressure regulator to lower the water pressure. Gem was knowledgeable and explained the pluses and minuses of high and low water pressure.

Tim did a great job. He came out and cut out the odd pipe work and installed a much simpler drain line from sink to wall connection - one that I can understand - with easy to remove traps. Did it in a very timely manner, polite, cleaned up after himself. I will definitely keep this company's information on file for future repairs and upgrades.
