We purchased our home while it was in the framing stage. During the purchase negotiations, we asked for certain upgrades for additional cost. When we noticed some upgrades weren't done, he made up an excuse. (Example: In the kitchen, we paid for a sink with a vegetable sink on one side, and a larger sink on the other side for pots & pans. When we pointed out that he had not installed what we paid for, he said "You can't get those anymore." We have since seen them at a home supply store.) After we moved in, we noticed other problems (Example: Finish grading wasn't done around the house; there was 3 feet of extra gravel surrounding the entire foundation that we had to pay to have hauled away). Another example: The walk-in closet in the master bedroom was framed too small; you can hang clothes on the closet rods or you can open/close the door, but you can't do both. We had to take the door off permanently to use the closet). Each time we contacted him about a problem (water leak through the walls, soaking carpet the 1st winter; furnace not connected to gas source; wobbling ceiling fans), Mr. Auger argued with us and was reluctant to do anything. He complained he had sold the house to us too soon, and would have made more money if he had waited until the house was finished. He later blamed us for his decision to stop building homes. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of construction and his negative attitude. Overall, it seems like he just doesn't care about the customer's satisfaction, just the money.
Description of Work: Auger General Construction built our home in 2004. The owner, Doug Auger, did the framing and foundation work, as well as running the plumbing from the street to the house. The rest of the work was subcontracted.
