Kilowatt did a fantastic job replacing our HVAC unit, which went out during the 2020 record breaking heatwave. An added challenge was getting the new unit from the street onto the far end of our two story building roof. This was all deftly handled by Dean and his crew. We highly recommend them. If you need heating and AC work done, go with them. You'll be glad you did!

I very unfortunately did not have Kilowatt do my HVAC installed, as I was foolishly shopping for a lower price (cheaper is oftentimes not less expensive!), and because I was slickly talked into signing a contract by a slick salesman. Wow, salesman can be so personable and enjoyable to talk to when they want you to sign a contract! Well, about Kilowatt: I can’t say much about the work they do, but apparently they’ve made their customers very pleased and satisfied with their work over a long period of time. But I must tell you about their office/administrative staff. I can say, without being hyperbolic or saying anything but what I really observed, are the best office staff I’ve dealt with in a long time, and you’re going to find that what I say is right on the money when you contact them. Even their after hours/late night answering service personnel are professional, polite, and very willing to help you pass along a message to owner Dean Gilford and/or the office staff.For me, that is a first. Never have I experienced a late night answering service that had such nice and professional personnel. None even close to Kilowatt’s. As far as the office staff, there is Jessica, then Debbie, and Valerie. I spent most of my phone time with Debbie, and she was, to make it brief and leave out all the applicable adjectives, very personable, patient, knowledgeable, and totally there to serve you the best way that she can. Jessica I didn’t speak with a lot, but enough that I can say she is as well a very nice person who is there to provide the best in customer service. Valerie I spent very little time on the phone with, but she also is very nice and helpful, and, judging from the service that Debbie and Jessica provided, would surely provide excellent service for you. The office staff is as great as it is surely not by a great stroke of luck that Dean benefitted from. They are who they are because I know that Dean would not have it any other way. You should definitely have Dean appraise your house and give you his ideas about a system best suited for your house and your needs. I certainly regret having made the wrong decision, and there is no question that I should have hired Dean and Kilowatt Heating & A/C. I will, without any hesitation or reservation, recommend Dean and Kilowatt.

I've used Kilowatt for years and they always provide excellent service and send out great technicians. They are always very prompt and are very patient explaining anything you want to know. My tenant was nice enough to let the technician in and Kilowatt just emailed me the bill. It saved me so much time and I knew I could trust Kilowatt with just sending me the bill.

Dean, the owner, came out in person to meet me and discuss my options. The whole crew was very professional, worked fast and were very tidy.

The technician came out and determined that the compressor went out on my 20-year old unit. He recommended replacing the unit and gave a price to replace it. I paid the $99 inspection cost, with the assumption that the inspection cost would be discounted if I chose to purchase the unit from Kilowatt. After getting two other bids I went with a different installer but Kilowatt was responsive and professional. Great team!

Very well - they were great.

Awesome service and very reasonable prices. Our problem was no cold air pumping from vents. We couldn't get a hold of our "regular guy," so tried Kilowatt HVAC. They were very professional and informative, polite and not-salesman-like. Technician was Byron. He was very good. Got there earlier than expected. Was clean and friendly. He took over an hour to throughly go through the entire system, including the furnace and blower in the attic (our condenser is in backyard). He couldn't find anything wrong mechanically. But did find very dirty filter in furnace, which he removed and replaced the filter in hallway with thinner one. This seemed to fix problem. But just to be on the safe side, he topped off the refrigerant. Byron then went back to check, measuring with an electronic thermometer that the unit was blowing out sufficiently cold air. All told, we were only charged $99. What great service, at very friendly prices. I would highly recommend Kilowatt HVAC, especially Byron.

Byron came out and he was excellent. He was very careful with a very trick acoustical ceiling that has to be taken out to access the pancake unit. He is very friendly and and knowledgable. There was no charge for the service, since I had recommended my daughter to use Kilowatt when she had a new heat/air unit put in.

My daughter needed a new heater and air conditioner.  And since I've used Kilowatt many times in the past, and know they do good work and are very honest, she had them come out.  They arrived on time and even the owner, Dean, came out.  They were all very pleasant and professional.  Dean was there most of the time working with the guys and overseeing everything.  Dean makes sure that everything is done perfectly.

The unit is working great.  My daughter is very happy with it and the excellent service.

I had an initial inspection that was very positive, but when I tried to actually book the service I had to chase the woman in the office who was supposed to be helping me. I called twice and spoke to her. Once she tried aggressively to get me to agree to have the repairs done BEFORE quoting me a price for all the things I wanted done. I liked the guy who performed my inspection and tried to give it another shot. I emailed and called again. She called back & said she'd call again with a quote, but never did. They really didn't seem like they wanted my business even though it was going to amount to about 10K. Eventually I went elsewhere and turns out I got what I needed for about 20% LESS than these guys initially quoted me.

First phone call, they say they are booked through the middle of next week. I call in the middle of the next week, they say they're still booked and will keep me on the list. Days later I call again, they are still booked and say it's the busy season. At this point I'm very annoyed because summer is a busy season for HVAC companies every year and they should have been more prepared - not being able to even schedule an appointment after two weeks is (in my opinion) unacceptable. Later that day they call me and tell me my address is outside of their service area. They have had my address since the first phone call. Debby, the woman who answers the phone, was extremely rude to me and offered no apologies for wasting my time.

Mario came out, who has helped me before.  He is very nice, knowledgeable, and professional.
He is very good at answering all your questions and explaining whatever you need to know.

The office always calls to let me know when they are on their way, which I always appreciate.

Have used this company many times and always am happy.  

They are a great company. Great workmanship and they truly seem to care and be very thorough. They are well trained in repairs and do their absolute best to complete the job as promised and planned and on budget. Ellie (at the office) who books the appointments is WONDERFUL as well. That being said - they charge a $165.00 diagnostic fee which does NOT apply to the repair costs which doesn't seem fair to me and seems excessive. That's my only complaint which I did express to them.

If you are looking for an air conditioning contractor in Los Angeles I recommend that you call Kilowatt. I called them in a panic years ago during a heat wave when our AC conked out. They were responsive and professional. They came the same day and my home was cool that evening. I have used them and referred them many times since. They have maintained the heating and cooling system in my home, my parents home and the homes of many of my neighbors. Last year they installed a new energy-efficient system for us that has saved us money noticeably on our electric bill. I think the insulation that they put up in the attic helped too. The thing I really appreciate about Kilowatt is that they explain all my options and they are really knowledgeable about cost effective solutions. 

Thorough job cleaning and testing the roof-top unit.  We've used this company for several years and highly recommend them.

Our water heater had been leaking for some time, but it got worse over the weekend, and we knew we had to replace it. I began to research plumbers, but then I discovered that Kilowatt does water heater replacement. We had used them to install central heat and air in our house a few years ago, and they've been wonderful in maintaining the system and doing any repairs necessary, so we've called them for electrical work as well. They also installed new insulation in our attic. They've always been quick to respond, very professional and efficient. They were able to do the work on the same day that I called. It was finished within a few hours, and it was a great relief to us. The new water heater is much more efficient than the old one, and we're very pleased.
