Bank of America

Despite going to the bank several times and meeting the one and only mortgage specialist and making a dozen phone calls, we did not receive a response.  It seemed like they did not want to help us even though we have excellent credit.  They wasted our time.

We began this process in Nov 2009. We submitted all of the information and were given a rate lock and a good faith estimate for a refi. We then waited, and waited, and waited... I had to follow up with her every few days to get any forward progress. It was incredibly frustrating that I was pushing the process instead of any effort from her or Bank of America to get it done. Finally in Feb 2010 (over 3 months after we started the process), we were denied by Bank of America because of a clerical error made by the loan officer. She then told me, "I told you originally that you shouldn't have come to Bank of America, we're too slow." Which, I wish she had actually told me initially, and reflects how bad of a process it was. I have completed mortgages and refis in the past, including a few months ago, and they have all been reasonably pleasant experiences. This was the worst, and I couldn't advise anyone more strongly to not work with Bank of America in Sherman Oaks, and not to work with this loan officer.
