Description of Work: Escrow company for the sale of our house. Having bought/sold 10 or so of my primary residences over the years, I have used several escrow companies - and never had any issues until now. I had even used Allan Erdy with good results a number of years ago - and when I received a promotion for a discounted rate, called them. Unfortunately, my prior escrow officer was no longer with the company. So I had the misfortune of getting escrow officer MIchelle. At first, she was all promises friendliness and service - apparently to get the business. She talked about her years of experience assured me she was well positioned to handle the division of proceeds (this was a sale due to divorce and that would necessitate instructions as to how to distribute sale proceeds). Over time as the sale proceeded, I found Michelle to be less responsive, less careful in her work, and somewhat abrasive, As the close approached, her continual refrain was how busy she was and how many reasons she had for delays. Although all she had to do was follow very simple and explicit information hand fed to her, she seemed to be speed reading and not paying attention - coming back with mistakes, not answering basic questions, and not being focused on just getting the job done. Finally, after my request for her to complete the amendment that would get our proceeds to us with no further delay (the sale had already been closed for a while and she had received final information about how to distribute the funds days earlier), instead of spending her time to get it done, she focused first on a lengthy email explaining to me how many other obligations she has and that distributing funds according to seller instructions to her is an accommodation for which I should be grateful. Apparently Michelle has both an inflated opinion of herself and a skewed understanding of her job And the concept of customer service? Not in her vocabulary. (I have noticed some positive reviews online for Allan Erdy escrow - and I did have a good experience in the past. However, I also notice that the positive reviews mention names other than Michelle, so buyer beware.)
