Everything that they promised was done as promised. The workers were very respectful of our home and kept the work area clean every day. The dry rot repairs were correctly done and do not stand out.

This was a very positive experience.  I had had a very negative experience with Knox a couple of years prior when the company had done a $6500 re-roof with DuraLast, leaving me with slumped ceilings and concerns about possible sub-roof structural damage.  But when the co-owner, Darren Price, noticed my negative review in Angie's List, he gave me a courtesy call to find out why I was so unhappy with their previous work.  I explained in detail, he LISTENED, and he offered to come out and have a look.

Long story short, Darren came out right away, looked at the areas of my ceilings that had slumped down after their re-roofing job, and promised to bring ace carpenters back to cut through the roof and examine the sub-structure to determine whether anything had been broken or bent. Darren came through as promised, took photographs and showed me what they'd found (to my great relief, the photographs revealed no structural damage), listened and responded to my concerns about how they would repair the metal roofing, and made a needed repair to a woodstove brace attachment.  He also had one of the carpenters repair damage to my kitchen ceiling tiles, which they will also come back and paint for me.  He said he would send me the photographs with notes early next week, and since he's done everything he's promised so far, I'm sure he will.

Unlike my prior experience with the other co-owner who had just dismissed my concerns,  Darren seemed determined to repair the obvious damage to my kitchen ceiling and the possible damage to my sub-roof structure, as well as to repair Knox Roofing's relationship with me as a customer.

I am impressed and grateful.  I have confidence, now, that my roof is sound and that the company will be there for me if I have any problems in the future.

They did exactly what they did and they all come together. They charge more than others but not terribly much. They are thorough, professional and they cleaned things up like every day. It was just great. It was worth what they charged.

They gave a competitive bid, and lowered a portion of it which I found to be a little high. We have a non-typical roof in that part is too steep, and part too shallow. the shallow part required a plastic membrane which is more expensive. All the work was done by Knox employees in a prompt and professional manner. The roof looks better than we thought it would, and we love the skylight. Now we don't have full sunlight in the morning and we can exhaust hot air from our room. The original builder and roofer had vented them into the attic, which is, of course, why we had rotted plywood on the roof. We got several quotes, and had to research different things, (TPO vs Durolast, etc), and had to factor in different materials and warranties. After everything was said and done, Knox's bid was very competitive.

From the first contact with the fellow who came to look, suggest, measure and cost the job, it was clear to me that this is the company I wanted to deal with. Clearly knowledgeable, clearly cared about the quality of work. Scheduling was easy a piece of cake, even working around the rains. Because my wife workds from home (therapist) we needed Knox to skip a day in the middle of the job. No problem.. no reasons why it was inconvenient... yada yada yada. They simply made it work for us.
It was clear that everyone took pride in his or her work... the cost estimator, the delightful office staff, the tear off crew, the roofers, the cleanup crew. EVERYONE!! PROs start to finish. They did a great job!! Left the place cleaner than when they started.
COST? Yes, they are more expensive than the other estimates, and no I am not independently wealthy. Dollars count. But so does confidence that folks will do the best job that can be done. And there were no hidden surprises. Their cost estimate was clear and thorough.
I do a lot of preliminary research before settling on someone who will work on the homestead!! Ou place really matters to us. Happily, it mattered to Knox as well. Thanks folks!!

Knox had been recommended by a building contractor that had previously done work on our house and whom we trusted. My initial consultation was regarding advice as to how to deal with my leaky roof. Craig Murphy was most helpful in spelling out my options, minor repairs vs. total roof replacement. He was extremely knowledgable and his advice was helpful. I decided not to do anything at that time but the next winter the leaking became much more severe. I called Craig and asked him to come out to look. He referred me to a roofing supply place so I could begin to evaluate my options with regard materials to be used in the job. After that he took control of everything. The job was scheduled, the workers showed up on time, were extremely courteous, professional and hard working. The job was done with dispatch including a section in the front of the house in which we installed slate. I was completely satisfied if somewhat taken aback by the cost of the total project.

I could recommend Knox Roofing. They were quality, they were licensed, they have worker's insurance. They did the job really fast. They were neat and tidy. They have a fair price. It was probably the best estimate that we got. They're local and they seem to be trustworthy. They did an efficient job. I haven't had any trouble with my roof.

Workers showed up promptly each morning, worked hard, took only short break once in a.m. and a lunch break. Cleaned up ground around house very well each day when they left. They tore off roof from section of house that was not to be re-roofed. I had to point this mistake out to them. Fortunately it was before the entire roof of that room had been torn off - too late for the sky light which had to be taken off to reroof the mistake part. It did not leak this winter, so I am happy about that. It was a newer roof so when they replaced the part they mistakenly tore off - the green shingles at least matched. They fixed this mistake at their own expense without. The workers were very nice. I was not happy with the wrinkles left in my new roof on one of the rooms, and they are still there. I contacted the company regarding the wrinkles. I do not feel I was treated in a professional manner. I am uncomfortable giving details! I will say the workers that were here everyday were nice and very professional in their manner, left the place really really clean at night. The product, the insulated roof, works well insulating rooms that had 'flat roof/open beam' ceilings.

We recently had Knox Roofing tackle our 25+ year old roof. We received a quick appointment (within 3 days) and a very fair estimate. We obtained several other quotes from local businesses as well as from a "local big box" store (a total joke, but that's another review) which actually were fair but all were more expensive except one and/or not clear in their appraisals. Warren's estimate was prompt, fair, and concise and had the most comprehensive warranty. We were delayed in committing to the roof for almost a year and when we recontacted to hire him, he adjusted the bid based only on the materials increase, a couple hundred dollars which to our delight was much less than we expected. Our roof was on the books that next week and can't express how impressed we are with the work they did. During the construction, we decided to make a change (less work), and expected to have to pay for the materials with such late notice. It was adjusted from our bill immediately without any question. His employees all were punctual, polite and all about getting the work done. It was a very cold couple of days with intermittent showers (of course, the roof was off) but they worked right through, making sure exposed areas were covered as needed. Detail was very important and we saw true craftsmanship in their work. Sorry to say, that isn't seen to often anymore. Overall, we are very pleased with the quality of the business, it's owner and employees and have recommend them to friends and family. We would not hesitate to hire them again.Although we have the same last name and have been asked by people for years if we are related, we are not but glad to have a name that shares integrity.

They are a local company, and they are quite well known. The roof was approximately $7500. They were very good. He was very efficient. The quality of materials and workmanship was good. They communicated to me very clearly about what the conditions of the roof were, what repairs were needed, and what options I had.

Warren Knox cultivates an eccentric entertainer persona in his ads, which intitially put me off, but in person he is knoweldgeable and a good communicator. He pointed out mistakes on the previous roofing job, which I could see with his instruction. His crew was prompt and efficient during the whole project. There was some misunderstanding about 2 vent locations, which were immediately remedied. The first rain revealed that two skylights, which were to have been correctively reflashed, had been forgotten. We had a leak. Following the short rain, I called for assistance. This return call took unreasonably long, in my estimation, but when contact was made, the result was repair under warranty by a good quality roofer, relatively promptly, during an extremely busy roofing period. The reflective white coating and 1/2" insulating underlayment provided a providential 10 degree relief between outside air temperature and room temperature below that area of roofing, making the room habitable for the first time during a 90+ degree heat spell.

After 3 phone calls to this company, Scott finally came to see the job. I signed a contract for $4,651 after the estimator said scaffolding, roof tie-offs (OSHA) and a 4-5 man crew would be required to do the 2-day job. A week later 2 guys show up with a 40-foot ladder and some materials. In less than a day, the job was done. No scaffolding, no tie-offs, no 4-5 man crew. I complained about the high price because the job was not near as involved as initially described. After 4 or 5 more phone calls to the estimator, he finally lowered the price to over $3500. This was still outrageous as the total man hours were 13. If the company cost of each worker was $100/hr (Scott said they get paid $24/hr), the labor cost would be $1300. Add $200 for materials (the estimator said the cost was over $800, but that is not right for a partial roll of Duralast and a few bundles of comp shingles. Add $500 (generous) to the estimator for driving around and the total comes to $2000. Add 20% profit and overhead and the grand total comes to $2400. I still think I overpaid. He argued with me until I suggested OSHA might be interested in a photo of the workers on the 40-foot ladder. I would use the workers again because they were knowledgeable, efficient and seemed to do the job correctly all the way through clean-up. I'm not so sure about the company's ethics in the pricing and responsiveness categories. I would consider hiring the company again only for the quality. I think they were only interested in the much more profitable whole roof jobs.

Wonderful. Warren Knox was pleasant and reliable as well as very good to work with. He explained his process in detail, two different times, so we were very comfortable with what to expect. He told us up front, without our needing to ask, how he releases any possible mechanics liens. His work crew were pleasant, hard working, and very nice to have around the house. They were in and out quickly, in less than a week. We had to call them several times for additional work related to upgrading our bathroom and ventilation (we needed new vents in the roof) and Knox Roofing was responsive, reliable and continued to be a pleasure to work with.

The workers did a real good job, and they did it in record time. They were done in two days, and were only here in the daytime when we were at work, and the kids were at school. We never knew they were here, and they cleaned up all the mess. The roof looks great, and it was a great job all the way around.
