"We do not have a record of this person being moved by North bay Movers of Santa Rosa. Angie's List is correcting this entry."
Anyway, what I really didn't like about this company was the owners high powered sales tactics. I believe he made several statements to clench the deal, that were not necessarily correct. For example, when telling me about how his workers were well taken care of he said all his employees had been with him for 8 years or longer. When the movers arrived, one had only been there for 3 months. Not a big deal, but not quite correct... He also told me that all his competition had a 4 hour minimum, something I knew not to be true. And finally he wanted to charge a 13% fuel surcharge on the service saying all the competition did the same. I was surprised at this since none of the companies I'd spoken to had mentioned a "fuel surcharge" on a local move. Since the total round trip from his shop to my storage locker, home and back to his shop was less than 10 miles, I thought 13% a bit excessive. When I told him so, he did drop it to 5%. I did the rest of my move with another company, they didn't have any fuel charge for local moves.
Perhaps "the competition" was a different pool of companies than I had been contacting. Still, I didn't appreciate the sales tactics and hope this will alert potential clients for what to expect. Oh yeah, keep in mind that the clock begins when they warm the truck up in their yard, not when they arrive at your door, and be prepared to sign 5 or 6 pages of disclaimers and contractual agreements before the moving begins.
"We are happy to see the Phillips acknowledged our Work Team as Careful, Organized, Strong, Polite, and nice to work with. We thank them for the C rating. Yet it is important to us that we explain that this particular Angie’s list member is inaccurate about several statements including the date in which we provided services. Services were provided March 29th 2014 not April 29th 2014 as they said. This may have been a simple entry mistake? We are sad to see a C rating from our client as we have received all A's from every other member. More importantly we are even more saddened of the inaccurate statements provided by the [removed member name]. This would not be the place to debate these inaccurate statements as it typically reflects poorly on a Company that does so. Yet in regards to one of several inaccurate statements, what was actually told to [removed member name] was that all of my employees have been with North Bay Movers for ten years or longer - Not the eight years they expressed in this review. Our new employee who proudly told the [removed member name] he was with North Bay Movers for the last three months and who was just recently hired, has 12 years experience as a supervisor/driver. He is very proud to work with us because of how we treat our employees and maintain our equipment. We are proud of his three month position. He has now been with the company over five months and he has turned out to be a great asset to us. We run six moving trucks and occasionally do have turn- over in regards to employees working for us. Yet our record of holding on to long term employees is unsurpassed. We found the statement from the [removed member name] inaccurate and misleading. Although we do appreciate the [removed member name] business which took two hours to complete, we only wished they could have called and explained their issues with us before giving a medium grade ratting on Angie’s List. This way we might have had the chance to rectify their issues. We would have been happy to help explain some of the confusion in regards to our Agreement for Service contract, which is an example of another of the several inaccurate statements made by the [removed member name], negatively expressing they had to sign five to six pages of disclaimers, is once again very inaccurate. This over exaggerated expression is one of several expressions of discomfort the [removed member name] stated and it is simply not accurate. We are heavily monitored and regulated by the Public Utilities Commissions in San Francisco. They command we use one form only for moving services. Although it is true there are five to six places to sign/initial, there are not five to six pages to sign. Using the words disclaimers is not only very negative but once again inaccurate. This Service for Agreement Contract is a consumer protective document. Not a disclaimer. I can truly and with honesty say more can be said in regards to other inaccurate statements made by the [removed member name], but I believe I made my points and will end these explanations honoring our company's name and conclude by stating the following. My name is David Noland and I own and operate North Bay Movers. We actively seek business on a daily bases and will continue to do so. We do not at presently market ourselves on Angie’s list but have received many A grades from the members who pay for these services. We appreciate all of the members’ business including the [removed member name] and wish you all have the opportunity to experience the high caliber of service we have to offer! David Noland"
