Empire Floors

Everything went so smooth, was really impressed. We had a water leak from fridge during power outtages and they refinished the kitchen, dining and hall. Looks great. Jon was friendly and very helpful. Installers were polite, happy and cleaned up real well

I got their name off Angie's List. They are nationwide. They are highly rated and I was happy with what they did. We had carpeted the bedroom and it transitioned into this tile and they had to put in some cement on on the floor to smooth it out for the tile and that raised it up enough that now it's uncomfortable to walk on the edge between the carpet and the tile. I called them and I was like, can't you put in a transition or something like that to do another floor and they were like, they never do that for carpeting. They just refused. They sent somebody out to look at it and he was like they could have a carpet guy come out and do that and that he'd talk to the people back at work. They were slow getting back to me, I had to call them and they basically jut said no, we don't do that. That they didn't install the carpet so they weren't going to do anything with it. They only do things that involve their material. They did the laminate first and that took them a few days and the tile was done like 2 weeks later. They had different men do it.

I talked to the representative from Empire and I chose the carpet and padding. We discussed payment options and I chose to have it financed. The representative handled all the paperwork and everything went smoothly. I asked questions regarding what furniture that I had to move and exactly what the installers would do. He answered all of my questions. I received a call from the office and we made the appointment for the following Monday. The contractor called to confirm the appointment and on the day of the appointment called to tell me when he was on his way. They arrived on time, asked me to check the color of the carpet and the padding that I had ordered to make sure it was correct. They began moving the furniture that I was told they would move and began their work. They removed carpet from the living/dining room area, downstairs bedroom, stairs, upstairs hallway and bonus room. Once the work was complete, they replaced the furniture and cleaned up. All this was completed in one day by two individuals. They were very thorough and professional.

Workmen arrived with correct carpet but not the right padding. I had ordered upgraded padding because of dog soil. I called Empire and they immediately sent out the new padding so the installers could complete the job. Carpet, now three years old looks wonderful after cleaning but anyone with dogs knows what those muddy paws and oils can do.

One crew (2 men) arrived with everything necessary and installed the flooring and edging in the kitchen, bathroom and entryway in a professional and timely manner but with minimum interaction with the owner and on-site manager.
The other crew discovered that they needed to tear up and replace the old underlayment and the home office had not included new underlayment on the truck. Since the material needed to travel over 100 miles to this job site, the new underlayment did not arrive until mid-afternoon, slowing down the installation and extending the worker's job into the evening.
This company has a local address, but the work is handled from a central warehouse which could cause delays.
This second installer (just one man) was much more pleasant to work with than the first crew, and I never saw the two crews working together even though they were in apartments only 50 yards apart, and they parked near each other. Odd.

They were under contract to tear out the old carpet, tile etc. and install approx 1500 sq ft of new hardwood.

They did excellent on the carpet and hardwood floor. I haven't had to refinish the hardwood once in 10 years. Its in perfect, pristine shape.

They should have walked the floor, they are coming back out to finish and fix the squeaks out.

Everything went very smoothly from the choosing of the flooring at the showroom through the installation. They were very easy to work with. They always answered the phone and returned calls promptly. The contractor and crew showed up as scheduled on time and without any complications. The flooring turned out very nice. They did a great job. No mess left behind. The house was left very clean.

I compared their pricing to two other companies. They were much lower in price for the exact same job than one other bid and they were comparable on another bid. I chose Empire over the comparable, because my initial experience with them was better at the showroom. They were more honest about the flooring products I inquired about. That is, they were happy to describe a flooring's positives as well as negatives. This made it easier for me to make the best choice for my home and needs.

I obtained a few bids to have floors refinished in a home we purchased. Empire ( not the national brand) was professional and on-time to the initial appointment and it only got better from there... While I prefer not to disclose the amount we spent, there estimate was reasonable and certainly better than some.

Once the work began, the crew worked with focus and determination each and every day they were there. They completed the job ahead of schedule. They were always polite and extraordinarily knowledgeable, especially Brian C (lead crew member) and Jeannette (sales)!

We expected the floors to look better after the work was complete but WOW! Brian's knowledge of his trade (3rd or 4th generation) really helped make our floors shine!

They did wonderful job. They were very professional. They came in did a good job and left. I would defiantly recommend them to anyone.

I wasn't pleased with the finished work. I would not use them again. I wasn't happy with the details. I told them man that if I wanted big box store work, then I would have went to one. I paid top dollar. The floors are very nice, but I'm not pleased with the finish on it. It scratches easily. The workers were very polite. They didn't speak too much English. I paid for a better quality of wood, which they gave me. It's pretty obvious that nobody went through and looked at them individually. Several boards had to be replaced. They put new borders in. We went around about that a few times. They were re-done, but looked like they were slapped down.

It is not the national one, it is the local one. We found them from a web search. They were really, really good. The person we worked with worked with our schedule and was accommodating. It was a really good price.
