Interior Painting or Staining: 1 - 2 Rooms

DON'T HIRE THIS GUY! Eric initially gave me a low bid and a few days later offered a $500 discount. When the job was finished, he said it took more time and materials and would have to charge more. Original quote was $2615 including all labor & materials. Less $500 discount. Final bill: $2650 ($35 more than original!) $1700 extra NO DISCOUNT Total $4350 Also, Eric does not guarantee his work. My original request was to remove panelleing. Eric said he could fill the paneling with joint compound. When I asked about cracking, he promised it wouldn't crack. It cracked. He said it was because my house was shifting and there was nothing he could do. If you hire Eric, be sure to check your final bill carefully. I paid twice his original quote (my fault for not looking closely at the bill) and will have to get much of the work redone.

As with others reviewing Eric, I had a really bad experience. Eric seemed like a really nice, friendly guy and I was initially happy to work with him on painting a rental I was about to move into. I would have preferred hearing more from him about his progress during the painting process, which moved slower than expected, but the real issue was that Eric walked off the last part of the job (cleaning/pressure washing the garage) without telling me. I was out of town and not able to check his work so I never knew he didn't finish it. He simply sent me a request for payment and said "have a great move." Because he seemed like "such a nice guy" I paid him. On the day of the move, I showed up and the garage, where I was going to be storing my things, was FILTHY. When I re-connected with him for explanation, (as others have said above), he blamed everyone else (the contractor and owner who were on site the day he was working), said he wouldn't give the money back ($350!), and that he didn't care if I wrote a bad review. I *am* writing that review, regretfully as I don't like doing this. I wish he had been able to work it out with me so we could get to a good place about the job. However, he refused. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this with Eric. It's a major pain now to be stiffed and have to pay a second person to try to clean a really dirty garage that's full of stuff. (Eric's bids were all over the place, too.) What made this so bad was that Eric was so "nice" with me and I trusted him. I hate to say it, but unless he learns how to communicate better, not take his anger out in the wrong ways, and have some honor, don't hire him. Some people have had a great experience, but I'd say it's not worth the risk.

Overall the experience went well. The only thing I didn't expect was the quote did not cover everything such as complete patching of repairs on the siding. But he did use the paints that we agreed upon and covered everything with the amount of primer and coating that we agreed upon. So overall I was pleased. I feel like the exterior painting was the best and is their strength although interior was decent as well. He also did some texturing on the ceiling and that wasn't quite as good and not his forte. The deck staining was a little heavy handed and was done with a sprayer. They took their time to do the job and confirmed with me what I wanted and took the time to check in with me. Their price wasn't the lowest but is was competitive. They were a little hard to reach at times.

Eric is by far the best painter I've ever had over to my home.  He is very trustworthy.  I feel comfortable giving him a key to my home to have him come and go as needed.  I've been working with Eric a little over 10 years now and he is almost like a second son.  What I really like about Eric is that he runs a family owned business.  He and his son do the work themselves.  They take their time when doing the work and are more interested in doing a good job vs some other painters who are primarily concerned with doing a quick job.  You can expect quality, professional work from EGI!  I highly highly reccomend their services.
