We have roofed for literally thousands of satisfied customers. Crandall Roofing was started in 1995. Rigorous factory training and certification allows Crandall Roofing to offer you the most valuable extended full system warranties available in the industry. Fewer than three out of 100 contractors meet these requirements. Crandall Roofing is fully insured to protect you. All of our employees are covered by workers compensation insurance, and we carry $2,000,000 in general liability and property damage insurance. We maintain a thorough safety program to meet all Cal/OSHA requirements. Thomas gave me good information about correcting the attic ventilation issues, recommending a extra insulating barrier to be installed on top of the roof sheathing to seriously eliminate much of the heat. He did not push me to sign the contract or schedule the job, but said when I was ready to let him know and they would get on it. He spent time with me walking in my neighborhood, looking at the different roofs I liked and didn't like and gave me a good education on roofing in the process..
The day the work was scheduled to start, the entire crew was there on time. The job was scheduled for 2 days and seemed on time until a patch of rotten roof was discovered, which necessitated cutting into the ceiling of my family room, replacing tongue and groove boards, and then repainting. This was all handled so fast and very well--it was impossible to see where the roof had been opened at all. Because of this extra work, however, the job did go into the third day.
I was impressed with how much care was taken with my property during the work. My plants were either removed or covered so they would not be injured by falling debris. The premises were cleaned each evening before the crew left. Great care was taken to find and pick up any roofing nails.
Just after the roof was completed. we had some days in the 90s. To my relief, the inside of my house was noticeably cooler and very comfortable throughout the day and evening. Also, this company worked well with my contractor to make sure the new skylights were integrated carefully into the new roof.
After all was completed, I realized I should have decided to include a gutter on the garage. I called Thomas and he had 3 men out the next day handle it. He himself arrived several days after everything was done and inspected the job thoroughly. There was one area that he will be sending someone out to correct to his standards. I was happy to pay him for a job well done.
If only all the work done on this little house had been completed as well as this particular job! I am happy to recommend this company as highly as is possible.
We had Crandall out to give estimate for re-roof job and talk about leak which was still under warranty.
Owner essentially said that the leak it wasn't his problem and wouldn't fix the leaking area even though it was clearly improper installation of flashing by them. Apparently warranty not worth paper it was written on.
Furthermore, on the part of the roof that they had re-done, none of the flashings were painted, and we didn't realize how bad it looked until the roofers we did end up hiring painted them for us for free.
For the re-roof bid, we got 4 bids. Bid included tearing off old roof, installing new roof, and new gutters. Their bid for the roofing was over 5K higher than the bid that we ended up going with. Their gutter bid was 3K, which sounded a bit high to us. I had a good seamless gutter company come out and do bid and he bid it at 1800. So not only did they pad the roof bid by 5K but then they added 1200 to the gutter job.
Overall, wow, bad job and tried to rip us off on new work. Not a great way to do business, so we don't really recommend them.
"Dear Sir, In response to your review I would like to clarify a few facts that will shed light on the situation for any future readers. First, your roof was built by the prior owner of Crandall Roofing under an entirely different contractor's license number. I am a new owner, so this review no longer applies to MY company. Second, I did go out to look at your roof and spoke with your wife. As I explained to her at the time, the leak was a result of a design flaw in a metal flashing which was installed by the general contractor, not the roofer. Thus any issues caused by the flashing were not the responsibility of the former owner of Crandall Roofing, nor are they mine. Third, regarding the price of your roof; Crandall Roofing has built nearly six-thousand (6000) roofs in the Sonoma/Marin County areas since its inception. We have done so by maintaining competetive pricing not, "ripping people off". In fact, we have a fair price guarantee that we give out with every proposal which states: "We will match any equally qualified contractor's price for the same job specifications". Finally, we would have been happy to fix the problem for you at the time, however because the problem was caused by your general contractor, we would have needed to bill for our services rendered. The decision to get estimates on a new roof was entirely yours. If you are still dissatisfied with Crandall Roofing I am always happy to continue the conversation. We pride ourselves on our decade-long A+ Rating with the BBB. Stanley M. Klaus, General Manager/President"
