Description of Work: They had an old table clock that I inherited because it was stopping all the time. They cleaned and oiled it, when it still stopped, they had a new gear cut and replaced both of the springs. Now it works fine. I have been taking my clocks to John for decades.

Description of Work: I had two special clocks in which another clock repair place had recently installed two battery operated motors, each of which was operational for only about 4 months. I also had a very old clock case in which an electric motor, hands and a clock face had been installed around 45 years earlier, and the motor had just finally given out. As the shop owner looked at it, he showed me notes written on the back of the case, which told him that HE had installed the motor in 1967! He installed a new, battery motor in all three clocks for just about $35.each, and had them ready the very next day! I couldn't have asked for a better referral.

 + -1 moreThey did an excellent job and ordered the necessary replacement parts; the clock works now with no problems (before, it stopped keeping time about every two days). They also gave a 1 year warranty on their work.
Description of Work: They repaired a glass pendulum clock which had stopped keeping time and trimmed the stem of the pendulum, which was a bit too long.

 + -1 moreJOHN IS AN OLD WORLD EXPERT, AND IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO SEE A LINE FORMED OUTSIDE HIS SMALL SHOP. HE REMEMBERS CUSTOMERS BY THEIR TIMEPIECES. WORK IS EXCELLENT, REASONABLE, AND PRECISE AS ONE WOULD EXPECT. HE ALSO HELPED ME TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS WITH THE GRANDFATHER CLOCK OVER THE PHONE.
