He was hired to change out a dishwasher for a new one...along with repair some minor water damage. He low bid the change out of the dishwasher to get the job and gave no bid on the water damage situation....which made sense I thought at the time. But, should have given a bid once he got a sense of it. However, he insisted i be there whenever he was working and kept up selling throughout...to crank the price. Kept spotting things that in his opinion needed to be fixed. He then broke the faucet handle on top of the water heater. and recommended his friend fix it who is a plumber. That cost another $125 and when the job was done hooking up the dishwasher I discovered the garbage disposal was broken. He insisted I replace it with a 1 1/4 horse power one instead of a 1/3 horse power one....which was odd.He then wanted me to meet him the next day to pay him....hadn't given me a total yet or itemized bill. I said no...that I had to sort it out and I hired someone else recommended to replace the disposal which cost another $200. As I was trying to get the disposal fixed and sort out the bill and the work to pay him and his friend...they began calling and emailing me. Trying to bully and threaten me with a law suit and a lean on my property. I sorted it out with the help of a reputable plumber. But, the whole experience was bizarre. I would NEVER let this person in my home again. This will never happen again. Lesson learned. Don't think he is licensed or bonded.
Oh and it is a rental property and the plumber friend spent time with the tenant and changed out the shower head without my knowing or okaying it. The fee was tacked onto the hourly fee I paid him.
"It is my concerted opinion that she has years of deferred maintenance and below average quality work done by the previous workers on this rental house. However, she is an acting instructor and insists her rental house is in pristine shape, thus the real drama. This house had significant water damage, mold, bug infestation & rodent infestation under the kitchen sink and behind the stove. I worked over three days to cure this so called “minor water damage” issue. I did not charge her my 2 hour minimum on 2 days because she said she had money problems. I shut off the hot water to install the dishwasher. When done, the old, “multi-turn” valve, crammed with 30+/- years of mineral deposits, wouldn’t turn back on. I took it apart & made a temporary repair, but suggested the old “multi-turn” valve be replaced with a more durable ¼ turn valve. She said she had bad experiences with the last 3 plumbers, so I suggested a plumber I knew and trusted. While I was present, she talked to him directly and said she wanted the work done the next morning (Saturday) and would meet him. On Saturday morning, I let the plumber in because she had not arrived. Because of the tenant’s pleas, the plumber installed a new ¼ turn cut-off valve and new flex supply line at the hot water heater. This plumbing repair ended the tenant’s complaints of low water pressure and he completed his bill. While waiting for her, the plumber gave the tenant a new shower head without charge & without permission. He handed me his bill to give to her and left. The plumber did not have permission because she never showed up to meet him as she agreed. Instead she failed to pay his $125 bill (labor & materials) for 2 weeks. While at the house, the plumber told me the current 1/3 horsepower garbage disposal was old & underpowered. He said Costco had a 1 ¼ horsepower unit for $100. I don’t know why the 14 year old, 1/3 horsepower garbage disposal didn’t work, but since I “touched it” I offered a $40 credit off my bill or my free labor on the installation of a new garbage disposal. Instead she demanded, and took $200 off my $375 bill (labor & materials), while having a new 1/3 horsepower disposal installed for her tenant?"
