California Closets - Los Angeles

I first met with the designer who designed a plan for the master bedroom closet and the office closet as well as bookshelves along one wall of the office. The designer listened to my requirements and came up with a great design for both. The small office closet was a particular challenge because it had a curved wall but she was able to design it with l-shaped shelves in the other corner giving us plenty of rooom for office supplies. She also listened to me when I wanted to make changes to the master closet design to accommodate more folded clothes. The installation went very smoothly. Two guys came and set up in our driveway to make custom cuts to fit everything precisely. We were very happy with the closets and the bookshelves. We ended up ordering another wall of bookshelves which was a challenge because there is a sloped ceiling on that wall. They were able to design a header for the top that precisely follows the ceiling and covers the top of the shelves.

We are repeat customers, having used California Closets for a bedroom closet in 2013.  We were very pleased with both the product and the customer service that we received in 2013.  So, when we needed a media closet, we called California Closets right away.

Wendy Bremer came to the house in December to design the closet.  She was professional and accurate in measuring and laying out the storage system.

In February, Mauricio and Jaime came to the house to install the closet.  The result should have embarrassed California Closets because it was so badly executed!  Mauricio and Jaime scratched giant amounts of drywall and paint.  There were holes between the walls and the wood.  Custom carve outs (for outlets, etc.) did not line up.  Mauricio and Jaime did not even arrive with all of the equipment that they would have needed to finish the project that day, as door handles and file cabinet liners were not supplied to them.  The entire project looked like it was put together by unskilled, inexperienced men.  What's worse, Mauricio and Jaime put defective materials in high corners of the project knowing that I could not see it, even on a stepladder (my husband ultimately found it, and California Closets confirmed the use of defective materials in subsequent inspections by Ms. Bremer and Jesus Mendez). 

During the installation, Mauricio repeatedly asked me to clarify the drawings.  If this happens to you, do not assist the installer.  Instead, tell the installer to call his foreman.  Because I tried to help California Closets attempted to invoice me for unauthorized charges for so-called "change orders" they claimed that I issued in the field!

In another attempt to defraud me, California Closets attempted to process final payment without my authorization and in an amount significantly over the amount agreed upon.  I am currently attempting to work this situation out with them.

This project has been going on for almost five months, during which time California Closets has been to my house six times and attempted to defraud me on three occasions.  This is not customer service representative of California Closets, which charges a premium claiming to provide superior products and service.

The installers were polite, professional, arrived exactly on time and cleaned up after themselves. They designed a perfect closet in a difficult situation.

On the phone, they told me they would be able to do the type of work that I wanted done, however, when they arrived they told me they don't do that type of work.

The experience wasn't very good overall. They never followed through or followed-up.

The experience was good. Their quote was too expensive, but I had no problems.

Very professional, from the sales person, who designed and gave me the overall price. The install was a total breeze, they were done in about 4 hours with no complaints. NO damaged wood floors, walls or mess wore protective shoes covers. Two young man (college type) did the install and since I always expect the worst, they were totally superb. The closet draws have held up nicely and no issues since, should have gotten nicer pullouts but all ready over my budget. Expensive is not alway the best but with CA Closets I got what I paid for.

Steve came to our house to discuss the project and take measurements. He then prepared a design and estimate. I visited the showroom to select the materials. I am completely satisfied with this project. The new home office is beautiful and functional. The design works well. The installers did an excellent job and cleaned up afterwards. Two of the drawer fronts were defective and the company replaced them very promptly. I contacted the company through Costco and received a discount (rebate) from Costco. (I selected drawer pulls and purchased these separately). I have had closets installed by other companies and there is no comparison in the quality of the product and installation. California Closets is more expensive, but the quality is much much better. I would use the company again and recommend it highly.

The process went very smoothly. The installers arrived on time and were extremely efficient and professional. The work was completed in about 2 1/2 hours.

Got an estimate from the Company and had the area measured and specified what we would like done. Two installers showed up and completed the work in approximately 4 hours. Good job done and it looks great.

Great experience and beautiful work!

The consultant for this company was friendly, professional, prompt and always available to take my call or to return a call right away. The installer was very friendly and thoughtful and highly skilled. After a very negative experience with Closet World, I found California Closets to be a welcome relief. There was no hassle and the work was done well and in a timely fashion.

OUR EXPERIENCE WAS PRETTY GOOD. THE DESIGNER WAS PROFESSIONAL AND RESPONSIVE. THE WORK WAS A BIT EXPENSIVE, BUT WAS PRETTY GOOD QUALITY. I WAS SURPRISED THAT I HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE ELSE COME IN TO DEMO, PATCH AND PAINT THE CLOSET (WHICH ADDED TO THE COST).

DAVE DID A GREAT JOB ON MY CLOSET, and IT WAS DONE IN GOOD TIMING. IT WAS ALSO VERY CLEAN AFTER HE FINISHED. AND YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW NEAT and NICE MY CLOSETS WERE WHEN THEY WERE FINISHED.

I AM A VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMER. THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS GOOD. WE ALWAYS WANT BETTER PRICES, AND I THINK IT WAS MAYBE A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, BUT THE QUALITY WAS GOOD.
