Wonderful job! Jose and his team did a really great job cleaning up my garden and yard after I had not had weekly maintenance done in a little while and my yard/garden had overgrown a bit. His team worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. Everything looks really tidy and nice, they were also great at listening to any special requests that I had. I will definitely keep them in mind for future maintenance and also recommend them to friends and family!

I recently moved into a new home with an elaborate garden that has suffered from years of neglect. Jose was very responsive and helpful in deciding how to proceed with restoring the landscaping and his crew has worked diligently to help get it back to its former state. Jose promptly answered my first call to set up a visit for the estimate. He showed up on time and provided answers to all of my questions. His son Ricky came on the appointed day with a fellow worker and all was done in one day. Prompt, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and always returned calls immediately. Will be using him for future yard projects.

It went great. The owner Jose is very helpful and very friendly. Answered all my questions, provided great customer service and his workers were great. They replaced everything and tested every single station and reprogrammed everything and it is working perfectly.

Jose is the best! I have bought and sold 17 houses and had landscape issues with all of them. Until I meet and contracted the services of Jose Barba, all of my experiences had been negative. Jose changed all of that. He is the most knowledgeable, honest and professional landscaper/ designer I have ever met. He gave great suggestions and provided service over and above the original quote. I will never use any other landscaper in the future. Plus, he is a nice person. I would have Jose over to my house for lunch or a beer anytime. He is truly good people!

José could not have been more professional and upfront. He took the time to really inspect the condition of my yard and irrigation system. He explained his pricing (which is reasonable) in a clear manner and offered several ideas for ways to easily improve upon what is already there. I was very impressed with his professionalism and I feel confident that he will stand by his workmanship.

IMMEDIATE HELP -- and they are more than just "landscapers"! After two highly-rated plumbers refused to even look at the damaged main sprinkler system valve that was suddenly pouring water, I called Barba Landscape. Less than ten minutes later, Jose (of Barba Landscape) and I had briefly negotiated and agreed on a reasonable price for the repair. Twenty minutes after I first dialed the number, a repair-person was on-site and starting repairs. Ten minutes after that, Jose called me to tell me that there was also a leaking sprinkler head -- which they would fix for free. So, thirty (30) minutes after I dialed Barba Landscape's telephone number, my original problem and a future one were being fixed. I waited a few days to see if the work would hold up. Now, I am writing this review. So if you need IMMEDIATE HELP -- call Barba Landscape. Worries over.

Beautiful work done in the front and back yard. 

The removal of grass and then installation of the stones took two full days. They cleaned everything up and hauled all the grass away

From initial consultation to actual work performed,  Barba Landscape was accurate, on time and within budget. His employees were courteous and Jose was present at every level of the project. Very pleased with the work. Gave Jose the monthly maintenance of our property. Very Happy with the outcome of our "new" outdoor living areas.

It started pretty well, and then things went downhill.
Jose was super friendly and knowledgeable, and he gave great advice for the initial clean-up and maintenance of our garden. 
He gave me what I thought was a very reasonable quote for initial clean-up of the garden of our new house ($825), and agreed to haul away all the debris.  He also said he would have a three-man crew there all day, with himself as one of the crew members. Things went well while he was there, but I know he also realized the job was bigger than he had expected.  In addition, he left in the early afternoon, leaving two guys to complete the work.  They misunderstood his instructions, and did not finish a large chunk of the job, which I only noticed after they had removed the debris from the partial clean-up.  This caused a great deal of extra work, and the guys were there pretty late.  When Jose came back, he agreed that the job was not finished, and said it would be completed the following week. He offered to not take payment until then, but I paid him anyway. I think the quote was too low for the work that ended up being needed, and wish he had told me he would need to revise the quote to finish.
The following week, the work was not done, as Jose said the guys only had time to do a regular service. Given my travel and Jose's work schedule, we found it very difficult to find a time when he and I could both be there. 
I was a bit frustrated with this, but the work in general was of high quality, and included services like hand watering pots in plants, fertilizing, and yard clean-up. Jose and I also discussed long-term maintenance and what should and should not be done in the garden.  About a month after this beginning, I went on a business trip to Europe.  When I returned, I found that whatever crew had come in had apparently done more 'maintenance', but instead of getting to the items I asked for, they had 'trimmed' all the plants that Jose and I had agreed not to cut, while not finishing the actual clean up that I had requested.  There were shrubs half the size they were when I went away, and two large gaps in the hedging greenery where the workers had decided to cut away all the overhanging tendrils and branches from the neighbors' plants (something Jose and I had specifically discussed leaving in place).  Jose came over and was immediately sympathetic and promised to fix things--including adding new plants to fill the now numerous holes in our garden.  Yet, he never seemed to have time to do this, and when the regular guys came to do the yard, they now seemed reluctant, in the face of errors, to do anything.  They spent less than 40 minutes at our house each week, only doing blowing and watering, and not being very complete at either one.
After about 6 weeks, I got a note from Jose saying that due to changes in his schedule, he would be able to continue doing my house.  He refused to take any money for the maintenance work--so the only payment was the initial $825.
Summary: Jose seems like a great and knowledgeable guy to work with.  Some of the people he hires clearly are not.  I think this job did not work out because the requirements of the garden were unusual and the regular crews were not prepared and experienced enough to handle the unusual demands.  I wish this had worked out better--I ended up with some improvements in the garden I bought, but also some losses.  Jose is more than fair: he didn't charge me at all for services that didn't work out. I think this was a bad match--I would absolutely work with Jose if he installed the landscaping himself, but I think his company wasn't really ready for this kind of gardening job around a strange existing garden.

Jose was enthusiastic, helpful with suggestions and followed through with all the work he promised.  After the crew left, the front and back yards looked fantastic.  All the weeds were cleared, lawn mowed and everything trimmed and looking neat. Additionally, his crew came back a few days later and spread mulch over a hillside that we have been staring at and not liking.  It looks so much better.  We are very pleased with the results and will be using Jose's services for regular landscape maintenance.  Great job!
