after 2 men came to the door with the vacuum. They were friendly, and the demonstration was amazing as to the residual dirt that the Kirby vacuum picked up, following our first going over the carpet with our Dyson vac, which we had only owned for about 1 1/2 years. But when we heard the price -- somewhere in the $2500.00 range as I recall, we just thought that was too much, and told them so. Immediately they began to pressure extremely hard, dropping the price into the $2000.00 range. They would essentially not be denied. The sale's approach was extremely aggressive, with our concluding that they were either going to sell the vacuum that evening or we would never see them again. The idea of our thinking about it, calling them back to discuss or have further demonstration, or whatever, was just not going to happen. They were there to close the sale that eveing or not at all. Ultimately we declined, and as we suspected, we received no business card, literature, promises to contact us again or any such thing. It was very unprofessional, high-pressure and a "throwback" to earlier types of salesmanship. We are very relieved that we did not buy. One of our very good neighbors were not so lucky, and ended up buying.

As I mentioned, late one afternoon a SUPREMELY friendly young woman came to the house and wanted to know if we would like to see a "15 minute demonstration," assuring us that it would take only that long. Although we pretty much knew better, we relented, allowing maybe double that time before we had to get on with evening preparations. Shortly there
