They arrived for the evaluation on-time. Great communications and call-backs, texts and emails. They cleaned up the yard VERY nicely. No messes left behind and nearly 100% complete. There was one small item that I noticed after the work was completed, and they managed that during their first maintenance visit. Staff is great! Hard-working, friendly, meticulous. Very accommodating. I plan to continue to use their services for 2x/month landscape management.

I had a water leak and he found where the leak was and installed new sprinklers.

We have many trees and shrubs and Mr. Hernandez is keeping up with all the leaves and trimming required.  He has sprayed the trees and is most agreeable about anything we ask him to do.  We are very happy with his service.

Jaime has an artistic sense so that his crew ends up doing more than just a clean mow and blow. He was present with the crew until near the end of my time with him when he began not coming and finally giving my account to one of his lead workers who has started his own business. The transition was done without any input from Jaime and it was not until I had not been billed for 4 month and asked for a bill that I noted the new name and asked the guy if he was not handling my account. He confirmed he was and reduced my cost by a few bucks as a good will gesture.
Jaime was very cost competitive on jobs he was asked to bid. However, on the couple of occasions that I requested some work without first getting a bid, his pricing was VERY high. I suggest to anyone considering using Hernandez Landscaping that they always get a bid before assigning any task outside the agreed work as a means of keeping him honest (and humble) on the additional work.

They did a fantastic job and are flexible if you can be flexible with them.

It went just fine. I have used Jaime and his crew several times in the past and find them to be punctual, efficient, very personable and reasonable. Please note that the price I paid also included some dump runs and laying down mulch ... a lot of mulch.
I feel so comfortable and confident with Jaime and his crew that we plan on having him come out next year and so some heavy duty landscaping.

We have been working together for more than 10 years. They are always here on a monthly basis. We have a month to month with them. They are great. They are polite and efficient. If we have any problems they come right away. They are the best. I recommend them to everybody.

They are excellent. I would highly recommend them. I pay $125 a month. They are very professional and very thorough.

Asked for a quote to perform general landscaping clean up. We have a rental house in Santa Cruz that was in need of some much needed trimming and general clean up. I walked around the property and explained that I needed the bushes trimmed back to be in line with the fences. Weeds removed and several areas trimmed up to make the property appear nice for the upcoming rental process. He quoted us $500 and for this and he would repair the broken sprinkler head and remove a rotting stump from the front yard.
Unfortunately, i had to travel during the time the work was performed, but my wife over saw the activity. While the work looked ok, it was not done to my request. The hedges were not trimmed back t the fence, but trimmed with about a foot extending past the fence line. The clean up of the landscape near the back garage was hardly touched. The sprinkler head work was more extensive that he thought, so he did not repair any of the sprinklers. the stump was more massive than he thought, so he did not remove any of the stump. We also had a small pile of yard trimmings along with some dirt/sand swept up from the driveway and street. He declined to take away the dirt (about 1 wheel barrow full) and only removed the grass and branches.
Overall, as he did not reduce his price for not doing the sprinkler and stump work, I found the price point for the level and quality of work to be on the high side. We have a landscaper/gardener service our home in San Jose for a very reasonable price and he's awesome, so our expectations were high. For sure HERNANDEZ LANDSCAPING AND GENERAL MAINTENANCE did not live up to our expectations nor what was promised during our initial verbal contract..

He came out, gave a quote and an install date. We had to reschedule due to heavy rain which he called and arranged. We didn't have to chase him down. His workers came late in the day on the scheduled date and worked very efficiently.

This was the first of weekly landscape maintenance Jaime and his crew will be doing for us. It has been October of 2011 since we had someone coming regularly and in the meantime, my wife and I were only really addressing the worst issues mostly associated with the falling of the leaves this past fall and pruning that had to be done before spring. Jaime and one other helper arrived exactly at the appointed hour, went to work immediately and worked like a hurricane pulling weeds, cleaning up leaves, and grooming the lawns.

Excellent communicator that really shone on this first round. Now let's see how they do after a few months and establishing a routine. My impression with Jaime so far is that they will continually keep their efforts high and truly look for ways to continually improve the look and health of the landscape. This is important to us as we really LOVE a well kept yard. ours is pretty much the pride of the neighborhood and with Hernandez General Landscaping and Maintenance, I anticipate getting even more compliments from the neighbors over time.

They did a great job and I couldn't believe how quickly they completed it. The price is unbelievably low, and I will continue to use their services.

He did a great job. He was on time and he cleaned up really well. I was able to get hold of him on the phone.

To be honest, when I saw how much work needed to be done, I was hesitant that things would go back together as they should ... especially since there were only two guys working on the project. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Abel and Thomas were here bright and early every day and worked constantly until they left. They removed the pavers from along the back of the patio, right next to the stacked retaining wall, pulled out all the old drains, measured and remeasured, brought in drain rock, new rigid drain pipe, installed extra drains in the patio, installed a drain and quot;chamberand quot; with an automatic sump pump, ran new rigid drain pipe from the patio out through the side field and into an easement, and then put everything back together better than before ... including the paver lights in the patio. Plus, they even prepared the spot for my new fountain! All this took two men only nine days. (At one point, Jaime even brought in a few guys to rake the dirt level in the side field ... a chore my husband was dreading.)

At the finish, I received a detailed breakout of the man hours and all the receipts for materials. (Note: The price of the project was for the ENTIRE project ... men and material. This job took a lot of rigid drain pipe, new surface drains, base rock, sand, more pavers, etc. Materials amounted to about $2000.)

We are more than pleased. Naturally, we haven't had any heavy rains yet; however, the pump in the catch drain in the patio hums on when necessary as we have so much runoff from the hillside that it's constantly running into the new french drain and into the catch drain. (An ingenious idea on Abel's part.) Will I use them again ... absolutely. Do I recommend Jaime and his crew ... definitely.

The lawn and yard work that they do is great. I found them on Angie's List and then they came out and did the initial work that I wanted them to do. It was good so I decided to use them for general lawn care. When they do it, they do it very quickly. They do a good job for a good price.

Overall, our impression of them is very positive. When I initially called to have them come out to do an estimate, the owner was able to come out a few days later and then scheduled us within a few days after that. They were on time, worked quickly and efficiently and left no debris behind when they were done.

He is a very good person and we have known him for the past fifteen years. It is a retaining business and we spend $200 for the montly services. He does every thing for us. We had an emergency where a tree at one of our neighbor's fell and broke the street. We called his home and he was here in fifteen minutes because of a very personal relationship. His employees don't look inside your house. You don't hear bad words or cursing. They are quite and there is no loud music. They are very respectful people.

We have been using their various branches on and off since 1997. They are very reliable, their prices are reasonable, and they do good work. They do a whole series of projects. We spend on project work and we have a monthly retainer as well. They have been amazingly available. I have even called them when neighbors have had a problem with a fallen tree. It wasn't even my responsibility, but they came and helped and negotiated the price with the neighbor and the neighbor was happy. We were motivated into putting the quality vendors into the list because we felt strongly about them and the others we didn't. We didn't want to waste anybody's time.

I have been employing Jaime's company for over ten years, both for my current property in Aptos CA and previously in San Jose, CA. I retain their company on a monthly basis as well as for a range of landscaping projects. Jaime and his crew are hard working and very professional. They thoroughly clean, prune and trim my property once a week and perform a range of other services under the same monthly umbrella, e.g., planting ground cover and larger plants. I have used the Hernandez crew also to put up fences, build small retaining walls, run sprinkler pipe, set up valves and controllers, prune trees, set flag stones and build French drains. They even helped move some of our favorite plants from our previous property to our actual residence.
