"Hi [Member Name Removed]. I apologize our visit did not meet your expectations. I know Jorge wanted to clear your drain from the roof, he specifically called me asking for permission to do so. It was my decision to not allow him to work on your roof. We have detailed restrictions in our Worker's Compensation Insurance policy that do not allow us on roofs that do not have OSHA approved railing. Apparently, falls are the leading cause of death in the construction industry. As installing this railing would not be economically feasible for your job , we had to recommend that you have a clean-out installed outside your house (which has been a code requirement for many many decades) that would allow us proper access to your sewer line for our cable equipment and camera equipment. When we have backups repeating at a customer's house we know there is some sort of defect present in the line that needs to be identified and repaired (such as roots, cracked pipe, offset joint, obstruction etc.). Our goal is to repair your plumbing and bring it up to code, rather than you having to call a plumber at inopportune times (every 45 days for you) and pay for perpetual drain cleanings. We wish you the best for your service needs. -Scott Duncan"
The repair person showed up on time, looked under the sink, then went out to his truck to write up an estimate for the work
Now the not so good...
The repair person returned with a written estimate for over $400 with an Angie's List "discount" reducing the price to $358. He then tried to sell me his own brand new garbage disposal, so I would need to return my new one. For 45 minutes of work and a materials upsell, I was appalled.
I called the office to complain, and they told the repairman to go outside so they could talk to him. About 10 minutes passed, and another person (man) called me from the office to justify charging $400/ hour to install a new garbage disposal. He had the audacity to tell me there are "no more $60/ hour plumbers". After I refused to budge and was ready to send the repairman on his way, he offered to cut the price in half so the unit was installed for $179.
I felt for the repairman... he was just doing his job. But the policies he had to work with are not consumer friendly.
If you are a plumbing customer who just wants things fixed regardless of cost, this company does very good work. Just be ready to pay.
If you are a savvy customer who just needs them to perform a simple installation, you are better off to look elsewhere.
The technician was friendly enough, but was bound by some pretty bad company policies.
He gave me two options to fix the problem; one was $300, the other was $600 (roughly). If the cheaper option didn't work, he would have to resort to the more expensive option and would have to charge me for both!
I rolled the dice and went with the cheaper option. It took him about 10 or 15 minutes. Cost: $300 + the weekend fee.
Wow.
The solar water heater lost appx. 8 gallons of water in less than 1/2 hour.
We had removed appx 8 gallons of water to cool down the temp in the solar heater,
and rigged the t&p line to funnel the water to the yard.
The solar guy was busy the next day, and we had to wait for a Friday appointment which
was ok since we had the t&p overflow water flowing out to the backyard.
The service guy could not find anything that would set off the t&p valve, and replaced
the valve. Checked the roof sensor on the solar panel. Cleaned the panel (the Hubby thanks you
since he had it on his to do list).
Informed us that we need to come up to code and have the t&p lines go to the outside of the garage.
Received an estimate to take the solar t&p overflow line, the glycerol overflow line, and the hot water
heater t&p overflow into one connection. The one connection would then route all three systems
from inside the garage to the outside just below the dryer vent. HOWEVER, the dryer vent is always
knocked off when the dogs are playing, and this will cause injury to the dogs.
The connection will have to be rethought out to avoid injury to the dogs before the work can be scheduled
and performed.
