Andrews Construction

The final product was excellent. Work is well done, crew is clean and polite. The disappointment is financial. The original window company, The Skylight Place agreed to replace the leaking window and cover the repair for damage around the window. The initial estimate between myself and Mr. Andrews for repairing the siding was 1300.00 plus the cost of materials that I personally purchased. Upon demo if the damaged siding it was suggested that we replace the siding to the entire side the house, not just the window section. I agreed, and also agreed to a verbal double the price of the initial estimate. The Skylight Place, original provider of the leaking window would incur the cost of the reinstallation of the window following the replacement of the siding . Mike from the Skylight place asked if he could hire Mr. Andrews to do that job as well since he is a fine contractor and familiar with the damage. I agreed to this as I was very pleased with the work thus far and with Mr. Andrews. The job ended up at 5706.00 instead of 2600.00. I expressed my shock and disappointment at the gross underestimation of the job. Mr. Andrews provided a detailed invoice of hours and supplies Andrews Constructiton provided so I wrote him a check for the entire amount on April 22. On May 8th I was told I still owed ProBuild for 4 additional pieces of Hardi Board delivered to Mr. Andrews in my absence. I agreed to let him obtain those to keep on schedule for the job. At this time I sent Mr. Andrews an email to question $231.76 for supplies on my final invoice as I thought this was for the Hardi Board. He replied that he had disposed of his receipts at the conclusion of the job and stated paper, caulk and nails by memory. That made sense as my intial purchase of materials was for the smaller original job. To my surprise I get an additional invoice from Mr. Andrews on Friday May 21 for the balance of what the Skylight Places "credit" did not cover. Mr. Andrews was very very thorough communicating daily with us about the jobs progress, especially at the conclusion of our portion of the bill. As well, when I flipped out about the 112% increase in my final invoice he drove over personally to the house to explain each day, what hours by himself, Chris and Ian were spent on. Again, I agreed and paid the invoice in full. At no time did Mr. Andrews indicate that his agreement with the Skylight Place entailed any responsibility on my part. I did not see the contract between Mr. Andrews and The Skylight Place.
