He arrived late with another man whom he did not introduce. The came in to see the job. They took the door outside to my driveway and began working. He came in after some time and asked for money to go to the store to get supplies to fix the area around the door handle as he had damaged the area. Since it was already damaged and I wanted him to fix it, I gave him the money and he sent the other person to the store. It began to get dark as they continued working. The second person left (with the vehicle) and Mr. Creech was still working as the first fit on the door didn't work as he had put in the handle at the wrong height for the door jamb. This all took an immensely long time and finally he was finished and asked for almost $500. I told him he was out of his mind and he settled for less than $400 (minus the money I had given him for supplies, which he said he would have forgotten if I had not reminded him). His friend with the vehicle was still not back. When I went to get the paper the next day, his supplies were in my driveway under a tarp. He came and got them the next night. He showed up a day after I called, on a Saturday (and his ad said there were no weekend or night extra charges, so I didn't expect any). That was the only good thing about the experience. The work was shoddy and slow. My door looks bad and was adjusted too far and almost doesn't close and shows gaping between door and doorjamb. I would NEVER hire this man again. He sent me a letter later offering his services and a rate based upon a guaranteed 80 hours of work (for which, in my words, I would have gotten a sloppy 8 hours work).
