DECKERS ELECTRIC

Decker's Electric came and did an inspection on a house I was buying. They bid out a price to do the repairs I wanted and at the close of escrow I decided to go forward with them. They came once again, walked over the whole house and recommended some changes and to review all the work that was going to be needed, mostly it was a rewire of the old cloth wiring, replace the 60 year old sub panel, install some can lights and change some outlets. I was told it was going to be a three day job, tuesday through thursday, but mid day wednesday I got a call from them stating that they were not going to finish the work and they were leaving to start other jobs that they had received. So even though they bid out the job for three days they only worked two. Apparently they underbid the job and it turned out to be more work then they expected. They never got any permits to do the work and when asked about an inspector coming I was told that they don't have time to deal with them and it is my problem if I want an inspector to come out. They also recommended me to NOT upgrade all the outlets in the kitchen to GFI outlets even though it is required by code because according to deckers electric the code is overly protective. Also instead of installing an outlet like I wanted I was told I should just connect several electrical splitters to each other. So they walked off a job leaving it unfinished, wanting to be paid in full while doing unpermited work with zero intentions of calling an inspector. I am now hiring other electricans to finish the work they left and many of them don't know how to bid it because they don't know how much they might have to fix. They have great prices and they show up on time but be afriad that they might not finish and who knows about the quality. My recommendation, find anyone else.
