Miodrag (Mike) and the people he works with are excellent! We heard of Mike through a friend. We had a face-to-face meeting several months before we started the job. Then when plans were ready we contacted him again to get a formal estimate. After the estimate came in, I asked for referrals. I contacted every referal on his list - about 6 people. When I asked his referrals if they had any problems and how they were resolved, no one had anything to say except that we should make sure we're ready to start, because once he gets started, he moves very quickly. Everyone on the list would have used him again and several of them were regular customers, calling him up whenever they had a new project. Many of his referrals expressed great trust in him as a person. We got 2 other bids. Mike's bid was not the least expensive, but we felt confident he would do honest quality work in a timely fashion. As we were providing many materials we had some coordinating to do. Mike was excellent at communicating about schedule and details. We agreed on a start date. Mike showed up promptly as planned. We would be living in the remaining part of the house, so the first thing they did was build a temporary wall so our living space would be minimally impacted by the construction. Every work day without fail Mike would arrive on time and ready to work. They worked diligently every work day on the project. If they were going to start late one day or leave early, he would always let me know. My husband and I had lots of questions and wanted to be very involved in the project. Mike would patiently answer our questions. At one point in construction questions came up regarding some structural details. This required a face-to-face meeting with the Structural Engineer and the contractor. He worked well with our SE to clarify details. Midway thorough the project, we decided to make some major plan changes. This required new plans to be created and submitted to the city and a change order to the original contract. Change order price was fair. One of his referals mentioned his expertise in tile work. We decided to have Mike tile the half bath. While the cost was likely more than others charge, the work was solid and that he always does things the right way. We felt like his standard operating procedure for the whole project was to not cut corners and to do it the right way. Another significant consideration for us was how well he interacted with our children. We homeschool our five young children and knew that at least some of them would shadow his work all day. After our initial meeting and from his referrals, we felt he would interact well with our children. We were very pleased with how well Mike and his crew interacted with our kids. We also appreciated their clean work environment. Everyday before they left, trash would be picked up and everything else organized. The worksite was always orderly. The workers used clean language. Since we were home everyday, I also appreciated that they didn't play music while they were working. It would have been hard for me to get anything done! Whenever any issues came up or if we had a question, Mike always took time to resolve the issue and make sure we were completely satisfied with the resolution. Start to finish, his part of the job took about 4 months. There were 2 - 3 weeks during that time, that he did not work on our project because of our schedule. Now that the project is finished, we are very satisfied with Mike and the work he did for us. Midex Construction is an excellent value, fairly priced for quality work.
