Martin helped me search and find a home in my price range. He is pretty professional and he has over 35 years of experience in the real estate business. He is very experienced. I have been in my new home since May. I don’t know about the price because he took it out of the price of the home. It was a commission kind of thing. I love my house and it’s of perfect size for me. It took a little while for him to get what I was looking for, but he was pretty spot-on later. He is good at what he does and he gives you really good service. The only complaint that I have is that he doesn’t always listen to you at first. So, you have to be forthright and aggressive with him. He was showing me houses which were like $100000 over my price range. I told him that there was no way I could possibly afford such houses. The other thing was to understand the space that I wanted. You really have to communicate with him as to why you are looking for and what you are looking for. I was looking for a 2-bedroom house specifically because I wanted one room as a craft room / guest room and then my own room. However, he kept on showing me like 1-bedroom houses because the price range in Santa Barbara is kind of hard. He was showing me houses which were totally out of my price range. They weren’t even big where I could anyway make a craft space. So, I tried to explain to him. He didn’t know anything about craft. When I finally said craft room / guest room, he kind of got it. It’s actually communicating with him to understand about you is the biggest thing. He did say that he wanted to get to know me a little bit to know what I was looking for. I had a written down list of everything I wanted, but he hardly paid attention to that. He wanted to talk to me instead. He may not be the best communicator, but he really knows the business. He really knows how to communicate with the other realtors. Once he knows what you want, he is really good about finding what you need. So, he is really good at that side of it. He is good at following up too, which is really helpful.
