My wife and I are happily members of Angies?s list and would like to nominate Russell Cobb of Cobb Construction
for the Pages of Happiness. We have done two prior reviews of Cobb and he has also
done other jobs for us. We asked Cobb to install three SunSetter EasyShadesthat are 6 feet, 8 feet, and 9 feet in length or so we thought. He arrived with an extra workman but what we discovered last minute will be of
interest to your members! SunSetter advertises that the EasyShades come in
widths from 4 feet to 12 feet in one-foot increments. However, we discovered
that those widths apply to the housings and not to the shades themselves! The
shades themselves are all three inches shorter than listed on the SunSetter
website. When we discovered this discrepancy, we called Sunsetter and they set
up a return in which we would not have to pay for the freight if we returned
the EasyShades to our local Costco, since we had purchased them through Costco.
Russel Cobb not only lost a full day of work, but loaded the EasyShades for
return on his truck, drove me out to Costco, and assisted me with the return at
no charge. How?s that for going the extra mile?

We have used Cobb construction before and gave Russ Cobb,
the owner and licensed contractor, an excellent rating, strongly recommending
him because of his prior work on our house.
We hired Russ Cobb again for a long list of needed work on
our house, which included restoration of a soft water unit shed and a larger
shed in our back yard. In addition, there was a long list of small jobs, such
as replacing a termite damaged board and filling in two other small holes from
termite damage which had been previously inspected and fumigated. No job was
too small for Russ Cobb, who did the wok along with a very competent worker who
did some of the work and then joined Russ Cobb on jobs requiring two men. In
addition, another excellent worker was brought in as needed.
Because Russ Cobb has years of experience in home building
and remodeling, he is very knowledgeable about the various components of the
house and how everything fits together.
He is both reasonable in what he charges and excellent to
work with. Before proceeding with certain projects, he explains what he is
going to do, e.g., installing a threshold and weather stripping our front door,
and gets our okay.
We highly recommend Russ Cobb (Cobb Construction) as an excellent,
economical, and personable individual to hire for small or large jobs, such as
house remodels.

The horizontal beam supporting the long overhang (6 feet by
30 feet) on the front of our home is supported by three vertical posts. However, over the years it became uneven so
that the roof looked arched along the middle.
That needed to be corrected. In
addition, one of the end posts needed to be replaced because of termite damage
near the base. Therefore, we contacted
possible contractors. The first wanted
$2000 with a possible 20% discount if I were to write him a positive post on
Angie’s List. The second, namely Russ Cobb
of Cobb Construction, sounded much more thoughtful, explained possible
solutions, and sent a diagram of what could be done. Cobb gave an estimate less than half of the
first and did not even request a recommendation on Angie’s list. He was extremely patient and thorough in all
of his explanations and was open to suggestions.
Russ Cobb brought another carpenter with him since the work
required two people moving and propping beams. They removed and corrected the
center post by cutting off the top and reconnecting it to the beam. They replaced the end post, which they also
primed. They caulked where necessary so
that it looks great. They also adjusted
the gutter on the front edge of the overhang.
Russ Cobb and his associate were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable,
helpful, and very skilled. I am
completely satisfied with their work, which totally transformed the way the
front of my house looks.
I will definitely use Cobb Construction again and will
recommend them to neighbors and friends.
