Javier is very pleasant to do business with, however it took him a month to return my furniture to me.
I felt his prices were very high. He charged $125 to repair the chair seat and $75 to repair the chair legs. The work on the chair was satisfactory, but I was disappointed on the outcome of the shelf.  For the $50 I paid to repair the small chip on the shelf, I felt the end result did not look very professional.  He told me his assiatant did the work.
Because there are so few furniture repair craftsmen, I probably would hire him again and hope for more professional results.

Javier is great.  He called me right back to set up an appointment.  He same at the agreed upon time (and even called ahead to let me know he was on the way).  He got straight to work and did a very nice job repairing our custom sofa.  I will certainly use him again, he is definitely a true craftsman!

When I called he happened to be in the area. He came over in a couple hours and repaired the furniture that afternoon. I could not ask for more. He did an excellent job, as well.

The work was wonderful.  My tables were well cared for and are much better after his services.  The only negative is that he takes longer than his estimate but if you absolutely need it for a certain date he will get it to you.  If you aren't in a huge rush for your antique to be restored, then Javier is excellent!  I would use him again.  My tables look fantastic and I am very happy with them.

He does phenomenal work and the chair looks brand new. I have two of these chairs and you can't even tell which one has been repaired. Some pieces of the back of the chair were missing so he made new ones that matched perfectly. I was taking pictures on my phone sending them to people, recommending him. That's how good he was. He got the color of the stain perfect He was very professional, reliable and stuck to his quote.

I selected this refinisher based on the Angie's List ratings. I dropped off 6 dining room chairs and one Chinese carved chair to his shop on February. 8, 2013. It was a basic refinish job of my mahogany, ball and claw feet, chip n dale chairs which have been in my family for at least 50 years. The Chinese carved chair had intricate carvings which I knew would take a longer process. I told him I was in no big rush on the dining room chairs and we agreed on a 6 week turn around. The carved chair would take a little longer. After two months went by I phoned to find out he status of the furniture. I left a message for a return call. A week went by and no return call. I phoned several more times with no return call. After another couple weeks went by I drove by their shop, several times, and no one was ever there when I came by. I began to panic and left more message informing him he NEEDED to return my call. FINALLY, I received a return call. I let him know I needed my furniture. He explained he has been busy and that he has to be out of the shop at a certain time to be with his daughter. I told him I understood about family but I needed my chairs and I stated I thought he ran off with my furniture. He laughed and said and quot;No... I have just been very busy. Your furniture is here very safeand quot;. He then said he needed a little more time to work on it. I hesitated, but agreed. (Stupid me!) Another month or so goes by and it's the same thing again. I call to check on the furniture, I drive by the shop, etc. and nothing from him (the owner). Now I'm very upset. I tell my husband to try calling him. He returned my husbands call only to tell him he had just begun the refinishing on them! I tell my husband to just get our chairs back! My husband works out a time to meet him and gets all our furniture back. BUT, before he can get our furniture he has to pay them for the work that was done. $835.00! The chairs weren't completely refinished. It was not a good job at all. There were areas where there was still finish, areas of them stripped, basically a very poor job. The Chinese carved chair looked HORRIBLE. I was sick over it. I went back on Angie's List and found Capelli Antique Furniture Restoration. I had taken him just a couple pieces of furniture to test him. Their work was within 10 days and BEAUTIFUL! So, I took him the dining room chair and Chinese carved chair. He told me it was a horrible stripping job and the Chinese chair may be damaged! I told him what I paid to get the furniture back and he told me I should have never paid that to get the furniture back. He told me the Chinese will now need repair (and I can see the horrible job). He told me the dining room chair seats should have been removed before stripping and they were just stripped around the padding. I'm sick over what happened at Treasures Of The Past! Please Avoid Them!!! After 5 months I was returned horrible furniture. The owner at Treasure of the Past did tell my husband he was going to leave Angie's List because he's too busy and doesn't need more work from them. I am so disappointed that we had to pay 835.00 for a HORRIBLE job.

After a carpet cleaning service put about a square inch gouge in my Pennsylvania House cherry wood dresser, I called several contractors who said they did refinishing repairs. Two of the wood repairmen said they could fill the dent and match the finish but the result would look like a patch because it would lack any appearance of wood grain. Two other contractors said they would have to transport the dresser to their shop and would charge me between $500 and $600 to do a professional job. I finally chose to go with Javiar, the owner of Treasures of the Past Restoration in Santa Ana. He said on the phone that he would use layers of transparent finish to retain the wood grain. He did the work in my house and the dresser looks good again. If you look closely, you can notice that the damaged area is a fraction of a shade darker than the surrounding wood; but various other parts of the dresser are just as dark, so the repair blends in and looks very natural. Javiar charged me $150, which is $25 more than I had expected. But he also touched up the foot of the dresser and a nick on the front of a bedside table. He took care to move other furniture out of he way and used a drop cloth to protect my carpet. I definitely would hire him again.

It took a little longer than quoted, but all the rain we had, plus Christmas and New Years had to be taken into
consideration.

This was a brand new dining room set. The table and chairs have a distressed antique white finish with solid walnut seats and table top. The back rest to one chair had a hairline crack and we broke two spindles while trying to put one of the chairs together. I wasn't sure if repair on a new dining room set could be done since most of the reviews were for antique furniture. Contacted Javier over the phone. It took a while to get in touch with him because we both have busy schedules. Since my repair was a small one I wasn't sure it was worth his time. I was able to email pictures of the damage and got a quote via email. I drove my broken chair pieces over to Treasures of the Past and three weeks later I picked up my repaired pieces. The back rest was repaired and you couldn't even tell there was a hairline crack in the chair. The spindles were made brand new and the paint color matched the dining room set perfectly. If I break or damage any more furniture I'll be calling Treasures of the Past for help.

When he completed his work, it was as if there had been no damage. The wall unit and leg of the chair repaired had an intricate design that looked impossible to duplicate. Yet, he did it and we are more than pleased.

This was great for me because he came to me and I didn't have to move the furniture like most repair places wanted me to do..or charge me $200.00 for a house call...

I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM. THEY WERE RIGHT ON TIME. THEY PICKED IT UP AND BROUGHT IT BACK LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE, FOR THE WORK THEY DID. MY WIFE WAS SATISFIED; IT WAS A LOT CHEAPER THAN BUYING A NEW COUCH.
