The estimator was very thorough and explained everything to us. We compared his bid to 4 other providers, and they were the lowest by $200, and they impressed me the most. Everything was completed in one day, and I have beautiful floors. I overpaid them by $9, and they caught it and refunded it to me. Very professional, and I'd definitely recommend them.

Tom the owner discussed the job with me on a couple occasions and made suggestions on how the tile should be spaced and the pattern.  His team showed up on time to demo the original old flooring and were done in one day.

The installers worked over the holidays to complete the new tile floor.  I provided the tile and the grout didn't match.  Tom went to his supplier and had the mix and exact match.  We were very pleased with the new floor which was the final item to complete our kitchen remodel.

Upon completion Tom followed up personally to make sure I was very happy with the work they had performed.

I will use Specialized Surfaces on my next project without hesitation!

Specialized Surfaces have exceeded my expections with the new installation and refinishing of my wood floors. I was truly amazed at the final results. I was really pleased I paid the exact amount of the estimate (no hidden fees). I had a great experience from begining to end; therefore I highly recommend them for your flooring needs.

I could not believe how great the results were.  I wish that I had taken photos of the before condition.  Everything looks brand new.
In my downstairs bathroom, the grout used to be a dark gray and I felt that you saw the grout first and then noticed the title.  Now the grout is platinum and it's the tile that gets your attention.  In the kitchen and family room, the grout had been different colors in different places, partly because of staining in the kitchen and partly because a contractor who had fixed some broken tiles a few years ago used the wrong color grout.  Now  everything is perfectly  even, clean and beautiful.  In the master bath, we had also had discoloration and everything is now as good as it was the day the tiles were first laid.
I feel like we have new floors in these areas.  I arranged the work with Tom Salazar, the owner, who made me feel that he wanted to please me.  His employees, Juan and Miguel, were hardworking and pleasant and willing to explain things to me.
I highly recommend Specialized Surfaces.

Not well, the first crew sent to the jobsite agreed with all the work to be performed (it was explained in both English and Spanish) but part way through the job someone at the company decided not to do all the work that was contracted for. Some of the wood installed did not even match the surrounding (existing) wood, large areas were left with NO WOOD at all (bare floor).

After discussions with the crew where they advised me that they were not going to complete the job and that if I had any questions I needed to call the company in a less than polite manner. This crew also left a messy jobsite both inside and outside.

A company representative finally came to the site and after reviewing the job agreed it was not as was bid.  A second crew came and filled in the open areas and refinished the floor.  When they left the floor added was noticeably higher than the existing floor (a tripping hazard as this was a high traffic kitchen area) and the wood was remarkably different in color from the surrounding wood.

The company rep was again called to the site and upon observing the job agreed that it was not satisfactory in quality or color.

We are now 2 1/2 weeks after the job start (of a 2 day job) and I am waiting for the third crew to try again to provide a satisfactory result. The delays have upset the entire schedule for the remodel of the house.

I will update the remarks after this next attempt to correct the issues.

After all the above issues, the company did address the concerns and the floor was leveled and again refinished. The final result is great, but the journey should not have been so uncomfortable.

Tom and his team are excellent in every way. Tom showed up on time for our appointment to measure and quote my project: a three story home in Newport Beach with marble floors, granite, marble and stone kitchen counter tops, bathroom counters, showers, and jacuzzi tub area. Everything needed to be restored to near original condition, including a solid grout cleaning, stripping off old wax and sealers, sanding and honing, then polishing, sealing, touching up grout, and re-caulking. His original quote was very competitive with others on Yelp and Angie's that I obtained. I tried to save by going with an independent (not on Angie's or Yelp) who was referred to me by an acquaintance. The independent's work was horrible and I refused to pay him. Tom came to the rescue the same day I called him back. He also honored his original quote even though more work would be required to strip the wax and sealant recently applied by that previous independent. Tom's team was very clean and diligently protected all of the adjacent cabinets, walls and carpet. They completed the job on time and within budget (i.e., no surprises). And the quality of their work was exactly as advertised, which in fact exceeded my expectations. It's not typical for me, but I highly recommend Tom and his team. A+ for sure. PS: The location of service was my home in Newport Beach, not the Irvine address shown below.

The floors look fantastic.  Everything was done very professionally.  Highly recommend this Company.

The two man crew of Miguel & Jaime were very professional and very prompt.  The job was quoted as a two day job which tells me that Tom the Owner and the two man crew knew what steps needed to be taken to repair and re-surface Travertine.
Our Travertine Floor was originally installed in 2004 so it was 9 years old and we hadn't done anything to keep the appearance up which is critical for a natural stone surface. The biggest thing was needing to clean it from dirt buildup, then polish it to original Satan Finish, then we needed over 35 pot holes filled with Acrylic Filler.
Both Miguel and Jaime masked off all walls, baseboards, doors, and furniture that might get wet due to the equipment doing the polishing.  Both of the workers asked before they moved furniture around to see if it was okay to move the furniture.  The job was finished in 1-1/2 days about four hours earlier than expected. All pot holes filled and we couldn't be happier.

The bath-tub had to be re-grouted because they did a messy job, and did not make the grout.  The granite sealer job was of poor quality, the same guy who did the re-grout.  The floor refinish was difficult, they were not prepared in having wood stain samples despite having access to  several planks weeks in advance. The quality is fair, and the floors are not what I expected.  Best to hire someone who does the work and hard labor, versus, just salesman who doesn't know what is involved in the job.

They actually worked really well. We liked them a lot. They did a great job. My floor was like brand new when they were done. They seemed to be very accommodating and knowledgeable of what they were doing. We asked them to come for one thing and they ended up doing something that turned out to be even better. Their price was competitive. They were very professional. I would use them in the future.

It went pretty good. My only issue was that they wanted a partial payment that I was unaware of.

Fast response, very professional.  Found a tiny hazy area and called them.  Juan, the technician came the next day, fixed everything.

The professional looking crew showed up on time and completed the job on time as quoted. The results were surprisingly good. The floor looks great and now we are planning on having them do the next project...the travertine shower. No doubt we will be using Specialized Surfaces as we continue to renovate.

Owner Tom Salazar is very knowledgeable about stone and gives a reasonable estimate.  Crew leader, Juan Sanchez and the other members of the crew did excellent work.  The areas they worked on were literally transformed.  This is one of the most satisfying home improvements that we have done.  We're delighted with their work.
 I would recommend this company to anyone who needs marble, granite or stone cleaned and revived.

The work was very detailed. They removed the carpet cover, removed and re installed the steps. Covered the steps with hardwood and completely redone the landing.  Stained wood, applied coating, painted the back boards and the side boards. Well done, professional people. Thorough inspection at the end.

They arrived when promised, cleaned up, and got very little stain on white baseboards.

They did a great job. Very personable good on returning my call and showing up on time every day of the job. Price is fair for the value and quality you receive.
