The company was to arrive by 9 am. They arrived at approximately 10:45 am. The company was here for approximately one and one half hours to do a "deep clean" of a 640 sf one bedroom apartment using three workers. They swept and damp mopped with bleach water the kitchen cleaned the oven(done by daughter), wiped out empty kitchen cabinets, washed the one window in the living room, one windowed door in living room, one sliding glass door in bedroom, dusted the vertical blinds on door and window (done by teenage son), damp mopped bathroom floor, cleaned bathtub, shower door, sink, toilet and mirror (done by father). When we tried to pay the cleaning workers they would not accept the cash. They did not have an invoice nor were they willing to write a receipt. We contacted the apartment management immediately after they left asking what we should do. One of the management staff, Jose, informed us not to worry Archstone would receive an invoice and we could pay then. Since then we have asked for the invoice from Archstone several times. The answer was always the same that it had not come nor had they ever had a resident request an invoice. Today, June 30, 2011, we received email from Archstone containing the invoice from Salinas, Inc. On the invoice, they are charging for approximately five hours to clean the apartment, vacuuming the entire apartment, cleaning all window thru-out the unit, inclding the trim "(THE WINDOWS HAD NICOTINE RESIDUE)", and cleaning the bathroom and kitchen, "WHICH WHERE EXTRA DIRTY". Having owned our own house and had cleaning services, this was a job that was poorly done as a deep clean. My wife was a supervisor for a janitorial service servicing federal buildings and owned her own janitorial service, rated their job as superfical and unsatisfactory, not worthy of $225 charge. The company whas been contacted via email outlining the inconsistencies of the invoice and asking for reconsideration of their bill. They have not responded.
Description of Work: The company was engaged upon the recommendation of senior management for Archstone City Place Apartments of Long Beach. They are the vendor for the apartments. They were told by management that a move-in ready clean (management explained to use what would be a cleaning equal to what they ask of when a tenant vacates an apartment) was necessary. The original estimate was $110. On the day before the cleaning, we were notified by apartment management that they had changed their estimate from $110 to $110-225, that they would be here for approximately five hours and that they would only take cash payment or money order. We agreed whatelse were we to do since management told us it had to be done? At 6:30 the same evening, the property management called again and said that the cleaning would be $225. He asked us to have cash for the cleaners.
