I contacted Ray, he asked me to send a picture of the work that needed done and he quoted based on the picture. It was pretty easy. The work that needed done was a little more complicated than expected but his crew figured it out and did a fantastic job. The work they did matches the stucco on the rest of the house perfectly. Ray honored his originally quoted price even though the work was more complicated and time consuming.

Fantastic quality and professionalism. All work was done within the expected time frame and the work itself exceeded my expectations. The install of the windows and doors (done by a different contractor) left big areas to fill and match up to the existing exterior walls. The high attention to detail was much appreciated. Dealing with Hillside is exactly how I would like work with all contractors/tradesmen for these types of jobs. I sent a text message with a photo of the repair work needed along with a short description and then I received a text back with a price quote. It was competitive so we agreed (also via text) to have them do the work. We arranged for a date/time, they showed up as planned, were very professional, cleaned things up nicely and provided an EXCELLENT match with the surrounding stucco. In other words, flawless execution and a great experience for us. I plan to hire these guys again as I have a stucco retaining wall that needs help. Now I know who to call --- or should I say text!

The project went very well!  His workers showed up on time.  He used quality products .  He blended in new stucco so well you can not tell where old stucco and new stucco meet. Very happy with the results.

Outstanding work. The guys were flexible and coordinated their work with some other contractors working on the property. Their work turned out perfectly and they left the place clean. Will hire again for all future plastering work.

Ray did an amazing job at our home. I texted him a few photos of our stucco issue, he provided us with a quote and came out two days later to start and complete the job. Like another user stated I too am very picky and he did an excellent job. He worked fast, clean and paid attention to detail (keeping the door closed, masking off the area, etc...). It's unusual to find someone that knowledgable, that hands on, and that honest. I would definitely call him again and will be recommending him to family/friends.

I initially contacted Ray Smith by telephone, following up that conversation with several email messages attaching images of the patio cover/ view deck under construction at our residence in Mission Viejo.  Ray responded promptly and made an appointment to view the job and to provide an estimate.  He was punctual, extremely knowledgeable and very patient with my multiple questions.  He educated me regarding the pros and cons of several design ideas, and his implementation of the final design was spot-on.  His bid was right in the ballpark.  We were under some pressure to get the work going, and Ray responded by working us into his schedule within a week.  Ray's crew was probably the most professional of the multiple contractors with whom we've worked over the past several years.  Polite, punctual, focused, and they do good clean-up. The stucco repair they did was flawless, and even though we intended to paint the new stucco, the material he used matched the existing color very closely.
Ray and his crew also nailed up lath and applied a base and finish coat of stucco to the outward-facing surfaces of the beams we used on the deck.  I should point out that the 6" by 12" pressure-treated beams and the 6" x 6" lumber utilized for the posts of our patio cover had actually twisted a bit as they dried, but the lath Ray put up and the final stucco and plaster coats he applied restored these to perfectly square and plumb surfaces; no easy task.  
He matched the knock-down texture on the house perfectly and brought the stucco right under the deck flashing--excellent work.  After looking at the finished job for a few days, I wasn't thrilled with the knock-down texture I had decided to use on the posts, and Ray accommodated my concerns, providing a very good price to change the finish on the posts to smooth plaster, which gave the job a much classier look.  He did the smooth plaster work himself.  Again, he worked us into his schedule to help us meet our deadline.  In the weeks after he finished, i noticed that he or his crew had applied stucco to close a gap around a gas line going into the house, and filled in a small cavity left by some past electrical work.
The end product was beautiful.  Ray Smith is one of those expert tradesmen whose work is really an art form.  Doing business with him was a pleasure.  Highly recommended.

Sent photos, got a quote and scheduled the job. Our house was built in 1928 and each room has a different and special plaster texture. So after we had the house rewired for new electrical we had 30+ holes in the walls and a massive hole around the new electrical panel. Ray showed up and got to work. Took 1 full day and Im so happy with the quality of the new plaster work. They really took the time to protect each room and the floors as plastering can be messy work. Ray even gave us tips on how to correct some minor issues with a pervious patch. He really knows his stuff.

Ray from Hillside Plaster is GREAT! I had some electrical work done, and had two out of date service panels removed. This left several large holes in the stucco finish on the outside of my house. I am pretty handy, and do a lot of DIY, but I've never done any stucco work. I went to YouTube to check out a few videos to see if it was something that I could handle. After watching a few videos, I figured that I would leave this job to the experts. Back to Angie's List to get some quotes for stucco repair.
I contacted several stucco repair companies through Angie's List to get quotes. Ray from Hillside Plaster was one of the first ones to reply to my inquiries. The BEST thing about getting the quote was that all I had to do was e-mail him pictures of the work! I snapped a few with my cell phone, sent them to Ray, and he replied back with a quote. This made my decision easy.
I scheduled the work with Hillside Plaster, and they told me that I didn't need to be present when the work was done. I was relieved, as I didn't want to have to take another day off from work. I cleared the patio furniture in front of the work area so that they could get the job done the night before. On the day of the work, Ray sent me a pic of the completed work before I got home. When I arrived home from work on the day of the job, I expected to have to do a bunch of clean up myself. Not the case. Hillside Plaster and the crew cleaned up the work area, and I could barely tell that they were in the backyard at all. The work came out GREAT! They patched all of the holes, and matched the existing finish. All I have to do is paint the wall to match, which was my option. Ray had offered to paint the patchwork, but I opted to save a few bucks, and paint it myself.
I will definitely be calling Hillside Plaster in the future if I ever need any plaster work done at the house. I am thinking about having a cinder block wall covered with stucco, and I will definitely be going through Hillside Plaster to get that work done.

The price was very competitive.  He was punctual and professional.  The work he did was very high quality.  He specializes in stucco and did what the first provider couldn't seem to do.  When he left everything was spotless.  The job overall was very well done.

We had to coordinate with the neighbor as the wall to be stuccoed backed onto their garden and the work needed to be done from that side. Easy cell and text communication with Ray. Once price was agreed the date for work was set and Ray showed up on time to do the work. They cleared soil at the bottom and removed old remaining vine - very clean, fast, high quality work. Very pleased with the outcome.
