Mr. Luong Lam is a very nice and respectful man. My husband and I liked him a lot. The reason why we did not choose him to do our remodel is because I was very uneasy about working with him. He only offered us Chinese cabinets and there weren't very many choices of style to pick from. I felt like I had to settle for something I didn't want. The cabinets in the store just didn't impress me at all. They were uneven. His quoted price for the job was extremely cheap. He was not going to make much money off this job so I felt like he was just trying to win the bid. I did not feel he was an expert in all the areas of the remodel. He uses all sub-contractors and does not carry his own insurance. He said his subs carry insurance and we would sign a liability release form any ways. I looked up the company on the CA Secretary of State business search and his company is in the suspended status. Not good... We almost picked him for the job because the price was so good but we met with one last person who won us over. We decided we would rather pay more and feel more comfortable with the quality. I think you get what you pay for so I didn't want to take the cheap route with this company. It could have turned out great but we didn't feel comfortable taking that chance. If you want a cheap price and lower quality, Mr. Lam was a great guy and I am sure he would be a great person to work with. I would still recommend you to give him a chance if you are on a tight budget. Nothing bad to say about him as a person. We were just looking for more quality over price. One last thing I almost forgot to mention...we scheduled an appointment with him at his shop on Saturday 10am and he was an hour late. So even though he says the business hours are open at 10am and walk ins are welcome, don't expect he will be there at 10.
