One of the issues of living with a neighbor below is the occasional sound and noise being emitted from nearly every footstep with the old carpet. In order to address this, I inquired about the possibility of using cork underlayment and Frank also discussed the pros and cons (such as addressing the noise but required longer nails and a bit more time). After looking through the selection that was brought to the condo, we agreed on a price and an installation date the following week.
When the day came, I was unfortunately unprepared since the installers (there were 5 of them) arrived about 15 minutes early and I was still in the process of clearing out boxes and a table. Thankfully, the installers were helpful in moving out some of the items and quickly began removing the old carpet and padding. Throughout the whole process, my father and I were able to watch just about every moment of the installation process (from removal to cleaning, then installing the cork, then padding, and then carpet). The installers were even kind enough to help install and hide about eight category 6 (CAT 6) networking patch cables underneath and between the cork underlayment (since I am planning to network computers and devices).
From start to finish, the entire process took approximately 7 hours total. Shortly after the installers finished, Frank called to followup and make sure that I was (and still am) satisfied with the results.
