Discovering that the problem was in computer software saved lots of $$ trying to fix a mis-diagnosed problem. I am impressed!

Took it in on my way to work and it was done and ready for pickup on my lunch hour. You can trust Barry to be honest and fair. He will never add on unnecesarry work.

We own Volvo S60 2005 and since our extended VIP service
expired, we needed to pay for services. We are a military family and move a lot,
which makes it difficult to find the best places for any kind of service. It is
why we have been using the official Volvo dealer services for our needs. What a
huge mistake; they are overpriced and not necessarily do the best job. The last
time just for a regular schedule service we paid close to $1000, where $650
were for labor (they kept the car for 4 hours) ??!
After a few of those experiences, we decided to look for an
alternative solution. After a bit of research, I found HARTZEL AUTOMOTIVE SVC
very well rated by customers. The only problem is that they work with just a
few different makes. Luckily for us one of them is Volvo. I highly recommend the
place. Excellent customer service, they diagnosed the problem right away and on
the next morning they had the replacement part and by the midday the car was
ready for pick up and the price was right. It’s been a few months and the car

Barry Hartzel, owner, has been working on Saabs since the mid 80's. He is a master mechanic with lots of experience working on Saab automobiles. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and competent. He replaced a number of front end wheel parts, replaced the engine water thermostat and performed other various repair items.
Barry is a rare find. The work was done perfectly, on time and on budget. I will not hesitate in going back to Barry with car repair issues. If you live in the Monterey Bay area and own a Saab, he's a valuable resource. Also works on a variety of other foreign cars. Very knowledgable and competent. Pricing was reasonable.

My sister was visiting this Summer (she has a Subaru as well) - and we took her car to Barry. He told her what needed to be fixed and what didn't, was fast and charged her less than the estimate. I wish Barry and his Team worked on all makes of vehicles because I wouldn't ever need to go anywhere else. Highly recommend.
