Bill was the project manager.
On time.
Did all the work quickly, with no discussion, no issues.
Needed time to come back and set the concrete, do finish work.
Quick painless, no issues at all.
Bid was sometimes more than 1/2 the price of the locals who "gouge" folks in our area.
It was a total joke.
These guys came in and in a few days knocked out the whole job.
Carmelo was the foreman onsite. They cleaned up the site when done. I saw the 60 year old pipes which came out.
I probably did not need to do "ALL" of the pipe, but the ones which were in the trench were the big issues, and that was probably 60 of the 180 feet, so the by the time they would go down and do the work, it was better to just do the whole thing.
Repipe 1's owner, Daniel, has built a company whose reputation is hard to match. He hires competent and courteous people and keeps his prices competitive, whether you choose plastic or copper piping. He wants satisfied customers. I am a very happy customer and would recommend Repipe 1 to anyone wishing to repipe their home.
Price/Value:
I believe we got a great price, especially given the fact that we have 2 kitchen sinks and 3 bathrooms. In two of the bathrooms, we have double vanities and tub/shower enclosures. Everything was upgraded to PEX.
Communication:
The guy I worked with upfront on a quote was kind of flaky, but everything after that was amazing. The foreman was tremendous and communicated everything very clearly. The call center communicated with me daily in order to make sure the city inspection was happening, scheduled, etc.
Quality of Work:
No complaints here. The foreman explained everything very well and went out of his way to make sure that our shower valve was working with the new water pressure (it wasn't at first). The patching was ok, nothing special, but we are planning on redoing the bathrooms eventually anyway so I'm not worried about the texture matching perfectly. The city inspection went smoothly.
Overall, I highly recommend Repipe1 because of their stellar communication, value, and quality.
We scheduled our initial install and the repipe1 crew was here on the dot of 8:00 and were here until around 7:00 pm. There were around six guys and they plowed through without hesitation. Only one of the guys spoke English and he was very helpful and was able to accommodate changes that I had Mede to the initial plan. He went mid day to the county for the permit and provided it to me that day.
The next day the inspector came out which was scheduled by repipe1 made a few suggestions and signed off on the piping. They then called in the Sheetrock guy to patch the walls. The inspector had requested that we fill the walls with insulation so the guy asked my husband to go and purchase some so he could install it. He did a good job and again the inspector came, scheduled by repipe1 and signed off on the final.
Afterward the water heater was making a foghorn type notice so we called Bill our original contact. He sent someone out and it was the installer that had come on our install date. He said he couldn't fix it and that it would be covered by the manufacturer. He then called them for me and they said they would not cover the repairs. He then made several phone calls and finally got the company that he bought the water heater from to send a technician out to fix it. I was super impressed that he took so much time to make sure that this problem would be solved. He was great. His name was Carmello.
The tech came out today and fixed the water heater, just a bolt that was loose which caused rattling. And now we are completely done and satisfied. It was a long process and not completely without problems but what meant so much to me is that they never left us hanging and were always there to do whatever needed to be done.
And for the best part...I now have great water pressure!
The crew of three promptly arrived at 8:50 AM each day. Day 1 was re-pipe. Main water was turned off and all old pipe was removed from home. Sheetrock was cut for access to water heater, toilets and shower pipes. Copper/PEX was installed and water was restored at 6:00 PM that evening. Day 2 was drain replacement and water filter/softener install. Water and drains restored by 8:30 PM. The workers placed tarps throughout the house and cleaned up at the end of each day. They were always polite and accommodating. The only complaint was the dust from the Sheetrock removal, but that was to be expected. The city inspector was scheduled for the following morning at 8:30 AM. The only thing he found wrong was the missing smoke detector in the master bedroom (my fault). The next day, Saturday, at 8:00 AM, the gentleman to repair the Sheetrock arrived. 6 hours later he was finished. Final inspection was on the following Monday, and no problems were found. These guy's are quick and did a fantastic job, we have recommended them to three of our neighbors on our street. We are so happy with their work, water pressure is excellent, and we can drink the water right out of the tap now, plus, no more clogged drains.
The first day was the piping and by 8:30 pm or so we had water again. The city inspection went well the next day (the inspector seemed more concerned about whether we had a stupid carbon monoxide detector than what he was there for) and the third day was about 6 or 7 hours of patching. The paint where holes were visible were very closely matched to existing shades. We noticed one damp slow leak connection on the dishwasher connection the next day and they were out the following day to correct it.
We did have comparable pricing from other providers, but the repipe1 warranty - be sure to compare their wording with others with the competition if you are going that route - and reputation made it an easy choice.
This project, however, didn't come without its generous share of frustration. After the initial work was done, we noticed several things that were damaged or done sloppily the first time that required a couple extra visits to fix or replace. Our crew foreman seemed to be immature, lacking in plumbing expertise, and willing to pass off sloppy work as "as good as it's gonna get". This same guy also completely blew off a scheduled repair (of sloppy work mentioned above) for mysterious reasons and left me waiting around all afternoon. After this happened, Repipe sent out their best plumber to fix the problems caused by the previous guys. He expected to just fix some damaged pieces, but ended up having to reopen the walls to fix mistakes made by the original crew. So while the initial work took 4 days, the final issues were not resolved until one month to-the-day after the start date.
There also seemed seemed to be a lack of management and oversight of the crews on the local level, as well as a lack of communication between the local project manager and the head office and work crews, which caused a lot of the delay.
Repipe 1 offers competitive prices for the very comprehensive work they do, and they will stand behind their work to ensure customer satisfaction. I would advise anyone who decides to work with them to ask a lot of questions about the particular crew and how familiar your project manager is with said crew, and to be be vigilant for any substandard work.
"Thank you for posting your review........ More than anything, I want you to know that we are happy that, ultimately, you were satisfied with the job. As the demand for our services has grown, I have become more and more dependent upon our employees to adhere to our primary purpose of putting the Customer first. As we add employees, now well over 130, we do the best we can to streamline the process and continue to provide the best bargain available. I am happy to provide jobs to our employees and help to feed their families, but with this also comes the "human factor". People are fallible. Unfortunately, sometimes this comes at the most inopportune times and will delay the process. I cannot fire someone because they may be having family problems or their wife goes into labor, or their child is in trouble at school. I can only attempt to recognize when this might take their attention away from the job at hand and have them "take a break" for a few days. We are not the type of company where we have plumbers sitting on a couch waiting for a call to come in. We are specialists in this particular industry and in many cases entire weeks are planned out and scheduled in advance. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. As I recall, the item that we are speaking about which had a delay in getting fixed was a faucet in the kitchen which needed to be "straightened"..........but again, I truly am extremely happy that you were completely satisfied "in the end". Repipe 1 does not abandon its' customers. Ever. Your job is done by us, and only us. You do not receive a "welcome packet" after you are "sold" and told that your job now belongs to another company. In many cases, especially in your area, these "companies" have already ceased to exist and we have gotten the calls to fix the problems for homeowners that can no longer reach the plumbers that purchased their contracts. I really do thank you for your input, and it will be taken to heart. Again, we are glad that you are now happy, and we truly appreciate your business. Sincerely, Jim Michaelson General Manager"
