C & J FENCING

Buyer beware... I have used C&J Fencing in the past and sometimes they do acceptable work. But, when you get a bad team or issues with the work due to their bad design, you will likely not be able to get them to fix it properly and have to spend additional $ to get it done right. In the end it is just the luck of the draw and therefore I don't recommend them. Any company that doesn't stand behind their work shouldn't be considered for your job. There prices seem good, but not after you have to invest additional time and money to make it right. I have learned my lesson the hard way and will never use them again. Beware.

I do not recommend this business. They recently replaced a shared fence on a property line with a neighbor. First, they cut two substantial branches on a tree (on my property) with cuts that were over six feet from the fence line without asking to do so or receiving prior permission. When I asked the crew supervisor why that happened and why didn't he ask permission, he said he didn't know they did it. The branches were on the ground and easily seen. Second, on the same day after the work was completed and I saw what happened, I contacted them by email with pictures about the problem and asked them to contact me immediately. No response. I left two voice mail messages with their head of "quality" (Tammie) over the next two days. No response. I then left a voice mail message with the owner, Chris. Still no response. Their lack of interest in responding is very disappointing. You can go to the Better Business Bureau website and see a complaint made that is very similar. That complaint is not from me.

Good communication. Estimator explained costs and options very clearly and answered questions. Returned calls when I had additional questions. Office called to remind me one week and two days before job started. Good, quality work: Bottom of fence needs short retaining wall because the ground on one side is higher than the other side. Construction crew lengthened it from original estimate because they believed it would be a better quality fence, at no additional cost No short cuts: Fence is on a very gentle slope. Crew made sure top of fence is level and stepped down a few inches about every 20 feet. The old fence did not have the retaining wall and the top was a slope following the terrain. Very long wait list: I had to wait for three months from estimate to construction. Other companies' were shorter, ranging from 3 weeks to two months.

Hire anyone other than C & J! After advising them they installed the wrong fence, their reply was that they would come and reinstall the correct fence for an additional fee, which I refused to pay. I withheld payment and provided documentation to which they ignored. My neighbor who promptly paid their portion of the fence has since been threatened by C & J saying they will send them to collections, even though they paid. At the time of this writing they have not replied to the BBB or Consumer Affairs in response to the complaints I filed.

Arrived on time, work went smooth, and fence looks good.

The guys did a great job, they were on time, built the fence right and were polite and professional, the price was right and overall we are very satisfied, I would definitely  choose them again.

In September, we hired C&J to replace a 100 foot long fence spanning the back of our lot that we shared with two neighbors of which consisted of two dilapidated fences.  The estimator was punctual and friendly, easily surveyed the site, and quickly delivered an estimate that was in line with my other two bids, in fact they beat their prices.  I shared the costs with my two neighbors, and C&J was very equipped to support invoicing for neighbor-shares like we needed.



Our job took one full day -- the crew showed up at 8am and did not stop working for 8 hours straight.  I was home the whole time and watched the whole process.  They were skilled and efficient. Since our lot has some slope that needed to be considered in the implementation, the foreman kept open communications with my neighbors and I to discuss design options to account for the slope.  We collaborated and came up with a design that we were all happy with, especially when the solution did not require more material.  



Additionally, I had other work crews abound in my backyard as part of a completely different project, and the C&J crew easily worked around them.  The crew left my site clean and I loved that they dismantle and haul away the old fencing materials!



The work resulted in a beautiful redwood board-on-board stain protected fence that sets the perfect back drop of my new professionally landscaped backyard.  We could not be happier and already received another C&J bid to replace another 100 foot long fence along the side yard planned very soon.
