This was a pretty big job and Primary Painting did it extremely well. In the initial consultation, they spent a lot of time going over each of the issues they found with the existing 7-year old botched paint job (by another contractor) on my house exterior. The owner ("B") showed why the previous paint job failed, and how they would prevent this from happening again. They explained each option and its cost of repair and preparation. They set up scaffolding on the house front (two and a half stories), and, believe it or not, hand sanded every one of the deteriorated cedar shingles until they looked like new. Three different neighbors who were walking by thought I had replaced all the old shingles with new ones! Then Primary Painting dug out all the old window putty and put in new putty, and repaired some window sills. Any cracks or rough areas were filled and sanded with a special flexible material that will not crack in the future ( not "Bondo"). They repaired dry rot and damage on several handrails by totally disassembling them, hand scraping, and then gluing them back together. They even replaced a rotted out section of a window pane. Their attention to detail was terrific. Inside the house, they gouged out all the old plaster cracks, repaired them, and then skim-coated the walls and ceilings so they were smooth as butter. They also took the care to time their work so as not to interfere with the other contractors that were working on the inside. Their crew has been working for them for years, so my work was done by professionals and not a newbie undergoing on-the-job-traiining. And even though they were meticulous, they were FAST! Bottom line, they are real professionals. You may find a painter with a lower price, but in this case you really get what you pay for. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!
