The service was prompt, and the hardware matched perfectly with the other windows nearby. We are very happy with Dotto Glass' performance. This is in contrast to the vendor in Novato we had originally selected. They sat on the order for almost three months. When they finally obtained grid color samples from the window manufacturer, the so-called Diamond Certified Novato company failed to call us. Over a week went by before I finally contacted them. They also told me that they would not be able to send someone out to color match the grid samples with those in the broken window. They clearly did not want our business and showed it by acting very unprofessionally. In contrast, Dotto Glass in San Rafael responded to our needs promptly and professionally.

Overall, a good experience.
The actual work crew (sub-contractors to Dotto) were professional, experienced, and proficient. They worked on-site for just over a week. When finished they did a good job of clean-up. There was one incident where they left for the day without cleaning up. This included leaving nails and broken glass in the interior of our house (dangerous because we have a small child). The crew chief was apologetic and explained that a medical appointment had forced him to leave in a rush. He knew he should have managed his time better and I decided not to make a huge deal over it. The actual work quality was very good and the windows themselves are good quality.
We ran into a problem with miscommunication between ourselves, the estimator from Dotto, and the work crew on exactly what work we were having done. In summary, be sure to ask lots of questions and be certain that what you think you are getting is reflected exactly in your written work descriptions.
Be aware that this kind of work generally requires building permits. Like many residential contractors, Dotto puts in their paperwork that any required permits are up to the homeowner to obtain. They won't say a word about it unless you ask. Besides risking problems with the Building Dept. down the line there is also a risk involved with worker's comp and liability on the homeowner if a worker or someone else is injured. It is too complex an issue to discuss here but be sure to do your research and ask Dotto and the subcontractor about their licenses and workers' compensation insurance coverage.

They responded to my call at once. I had previously called another larger local company who never returned my 3 phone calls. They came out to get the broken glass mirrored door the next day, and returned it within 3 days after my original call. It's now good for another 35 years!
