My wife and I moved up to Marin back in 2013 from Los Angeles.  After deciding the move was permanent, I reached out first to a neighbor who was an agent.  I made it clear to that person that I would be demanding, expect prompt service and would need them to be all over things as the real estate market in the bay area is nuts.  After a couple of months, the first agent just wasn't cutting it.  I had previously met Arun when looking for rental houses and had a really good feeling after meeting him.  He offered sound advice about the market and about finding a rental property despite not representing me.  I remembered this when it came time to switch.
I hired Arun and my god, what a difference.  I gave him the "i'm demanding" speech at the beginning and it didn't even phase him.  He said he'd be all over things for us.  He was always responsive;  always returned calls and emails i.  He asked a lot of questions to help narrow the focus of our search.  Most important to me was that I never felt rushed, pushed towards a house that didn't make sense or taken to places that didn't fit our needs.  He constantly listened and he just got better.  One particular day, he came to us and said "I think I've found your perfect house, but it's just in the wrong neighborhood.  Would you indulge me to confirm I'm on the right track?". We did and he completely nailed it.  It gave us total confidence that when the right place surfaced, he'd know it.  
We had one misstep along the way that was on us.  We made an offer that stretched us a little too far.  After 24 hrs, we realized it and we went to him to pull the offer.  There was no judgement, no pressure just the attitude of "let's get it done".  It was a really tough decision and he made it much easier.  His professionalism dealing with the sellers agent was exemplary.  
When we finally found "the house", he helped us with the offer based on his research of comps.  We knew it would be a multiple offer situation (and it was).  We told him we wanted to go in strong but not over the top.  When the dust cleared, we got the house!  The best part was, after we received the appraisal, it came in even higher indicating we were just where we needed to be.  After that, we had some tough negotiations after the inspections.  Arun worked with the sellers agent to work out a creative solution to getting us what we wanted.  He was firm when he needed to be and understanding when that was required as well.  Due to some issues with the lender in the 11th hour, we nearly lost the house.  Again, Arun stepped in to manage relations with the sellers agent and mortgage broker to prevent things from falling apart.
I can not say enough good things about our experience dealing with Arun.  He is a really top notch real estate agent in a field filled with Agents who are more about serving themselves than building a solid relationship with the clients he represents so he can service their needs as best as humanly possible.  Not only would I use him again, I would recommend him to anyone and everyone who will listen.  As I mentioned, I expect a lot of a person doing this job, especially given what's at stake in an expensive home purchase.  Arun delivered time and time again and for that, we are truly grateful!
