From initial visit to completion, John Macfarlane was very accommodating. He kept in contact during the entire project and is extremely knowledgeable. We had a tight time deadline and his crew came through. During the project, there were some items that were not on the original plan and they fixed/corrected them to current standards. Great people / great work!

This company was hired to complete a simple backyard project which was supposed to be completed within two months, according to our contract. John, the owner, was terrible about communicating with us once the job got started and we immediately began running into problems with the workmanship of the first crew. Most of the work done in the first month had to be started all over but was done incorrectly even the second time around! John would argue with us when we would call to let him know that things were not done properly and my husband had to bring out a level at one point to prove to John that his workers had built some stairs incorrectly. This shoddy workmanship was finally corrected by a second crew, but not without my husband having to miss many days from work due to contractors not showing up and the mere fact that he needed to follow every move made by the people John had working for us. At one point all work had stopped and I had no choice but to complain with the Contractors State License Board. No wrongdoing was cited against him only because my husband and I decided it would be easier to let him finish the job instead of having to hire someone else. Little did I know that he would soon threaten to sue us for slander for simply posting negative reviews about his company on yelp and other online sites. We were forced to retain an attorney, thinking he might sue us, but soon learned from our atorney that customers have the right to let others know about troublesome companies and that we would not be sued. We wanted this horrible experience to be over as quickly as possible so we requested that John finally remove the cement forms he had left in our backyard, to which he replied that my husband could do it himself! After paying him so much money, he expected my husband to finish the job. Go figure. Our attorney advised us to just pay this guy and move on and that is what we did. Please beware. With so many contractors to choose from, why take the risk?
