On Tuesday, Sept 20, 2011, arrived at house by 1:30 pm. Heard nothing by 3:00 pm so called DP Electric to inquire - left message on machine. Still nothing by 3:45 pm so called DP Electric again - left ANOTHER message on machine. No contact from anyone by 4:40 pm so called DP Electric again and left final message that I was going to have to hire another electrician, take another day off from work and thanks for nothing. I got another electrician off of Angies List and made arrangments for him to come out the next day. At 5:30 pm the DP Electric repair guy finally showed up as if nothing was wrong. I expressed my displeasure with him and he only said he tried to call me from his previous job that went over but he didn't have any reception on his cell phone. He said he was ready to go to work and I said OK as long as I was not being charged the "overtime" rate or the "night call" rate to which he agreed. He had another guy helping him and they went through the wall outlets, switches, under the house and in the garage. At 8:45 they located the problem and resolved the issue by bypassing and closing off a switch we never even used. After they left my wife noticed they forgot to replace the cover molding on the track lighting in the ceiling. Left off that owner/manager? Frank Prieto would contact me about payment for services.
On Thursday, Sept 22, 2011, received call from Frank Prieto who profusely apologized for this service experience. He was very apologetic and explained to me what happened and how he had corrected the personnel involved. He said he was out of town and the guy who was supposed to be covering the business dropped the ball. (??) At any rate, he was very conciliatory and gave me a substantial discount over the normal rate listed above. ($375 is what he would have charged) He also had another repair guy come out on Friday, Sept 23rd to replace the molding and then Frank himself came on Friday night to apologize in person and pick up the check.
The electrical work was completed and on that alone with the price ($375) I would have given them a "B." The repair guy not calling me and no one at the business to call me back was very inconvenient and frustrating and would have merited an "F" standing alone but the guy did finally show up and get the job done and Frank's professional attitude and conciliatory follow up afterwards brings up their grade in my eyes. You can't give pluses or minus on Angie's List but if I could, I would have then rated DP Electric around a B- or C+. I have had a good experience with them before this incident and would use them again based on Frank's save.
