Biovent Termite
About us
Biovent Termite specializes in same day termite inspections and treatments with Termite Tracker technology. Biovent Termite is a partnership between Gee Chow, Patrick Tamayo and Juler Hernandez. We have no employees or subcontractors. We are licensed by the State of California, PR 5856 and fully bonded and insured. Biovent Termite uses Termite Tracker technology to determine active from inactive infestations and pinpoint active infestations. That way we can minimize chemical use and save our customers money. See our Tracker demo video on youtube. http;//www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2IHQh19D2s We do charge for an inspection, but discount the inspection fee if we do the treatment the same day. We charge the inspection fee if we find no active infestations or if treatment is done the second trip out. Our inspections generally take longer than most companies. Most companies only visually check for infestations. We go beyond visual evidence. After our visual inspection we will test those areas to verify whether or not an infestation is active and then pinpoint the extent of active infestations. We can then write the report on site and perform treatment the same day. This way we minimize chemical and gas use, and save our customers time and money. Biovent Termite believes in minimizing our impact on our environment with Termite Tracker technology. Termite Tracker technology is scientifically tested and developed and made in America.

Orkin inspected quickly and recommended a full perimeter and interior chemical treatment for about $3200. The goal is to create plume of termiticide chemical saturating the soil all around the foundation, and keep it from washing away over time. The inspection itself was free. But the inspector was not able to show any actual evidence of a current infestation, claiming that was basically impossible. It felt like and quot;flying blindand quot;, with no way to determine need, and more importantly no way to come back later and verify if the treatment actually worked.
So I contacted a UC Berkeley termite researcher asking about and quot;termite sniffing dogsand quot;, and ended up with a referral to Biovent instead.
Biovent inspected slowly and carefully and concluded that we have no active infestation, and that with a few small changes to the house, we could see a future infestation before it gets serious. This inspection cost $300 (a price inclusive of one spot treatment). Biovent supplemented manual inspection with an electronic listening device. This device screws into wood and can hear and quot;chewingand quot; noises nearby, supposedly 4 feet in either direction. In some ways is a shame there were no termites, as it would have been fun to cut into the wood and actually see them (see this article where detection technology found termites manual inspection missed: RISKY BUSINESS Pest Control Technology Magazine 2/12/2001 http://www.pctonline.com/Article.aspx?article_id=39472 ).
Those interested in a less invastive approach to termite control should also look up the new DuPont Altrisetâ„¢ termiticide
