I was concerned because a very large root from the 30-foot cedar tree that on the upslope was growing in the retaining wall pathway. I didn't want it cut unnecessarily since it looked like a really important part of this tree that is within "striking distance" of my house if it were to fall. Joe came and looked at it and called in his "tree person" to inspect it as well, then went ahead and cut back the root just enough to make room for the wall and give the root space to grow again. A company that will take the time to listen, problem solve, and assuage a homeowner's anxiety by using their expertise gets my vote!
The wall and the deck are gorgeous, and I'm waiting for winter rains to test their strength, but I'm positive all will turn out well.
