They initially responded to my complaint of a broken furnace in a house I just purchased.  Looking at the furnace, a ~30 yr old Rheem, the technician provided a quote of $800 to fix, but suggested a new furnace given that other components looked near failure too.  For $2500, I decided to go for it.  I didn't get competitive bids, so can't speak to their price competitiveness.  However, they were punctual, thorough, and clean.

The tech showed up the next day to start the work on time; I left him for the day, coming back in the evening, and he gave me a little tour of the system and talked me through some options to solve a duct routing problem.  He accidentally broke the switch on the wall next to the heater, but they had someone out the next day to fix that and install the filter which he had forgotten.

But what I really appreciated was a few very minor but very helpful things he did above & beyond: I had some old ducts in a trash heap that I was going to have to dispose of myself, and he offered to take them, and I had a portable dishwasher that I needed to move between rooms but that needed two people to move it up & down some steps, and he spent an extra 5 minutes helping me with that as well.

The heater works great, and - from his tour & descriptions - obviously takes pride in his work.  He mentioned he'd been with Furnace Man for 4+ years continuously now, but that he had been originally hired by them some 20 years ago before trying a few different companies.  So seems like a good company to work for & keeps good people.

The owner, Randy, is a no-nonsense guy that provided a fair estimate of the work. He made suggestions as to where we could save money and left me with a good impression. The work began rapidly, but took an unexpectedly long time to wrap-up. The final work included servicing a second furnace and cleaning out the some of the existing ducts, but his crew was clean and very friendly. I got to know everyone at The Furnace Man by name and overall I feel this is a great local business to support.

I received three estimates and all were within $250 of each other. I chose The Furnace Man because he was the only one to notice the fire hazard (when I mentioned it to the other two estimators, one agreed it should be changed, the other said we could ignore it). TFM gave me the options between efficient and super-efficient units, explained the pros and cons of both, and then told me what he would do and why. He made great sense. His crew has been with him for over 15 years and they were respectful and efficient. And they cut the tile in our bathroom floor flawlessly. This project took 5 days and they finished ahead of schedule. I would recommend them to friends and family.
