I called in the morning and the work was completed that same day in the afternoon. Very responsive and very professional. The thumb latch on the front door was not working properly and fortunately the service technician had the right repair kit in his truck. The entire process was completed in less than an hour. We were very satisfied and would definitely use them again.

Super. Calling on Monday, I was able to get my appointment on the day I wanted later in the week. Jesse showed up the in first half of the time window. He worked very quickly and confidently - having immediately diagnosed the problems. The lock is literally 10 times better - it went from sticking and occasionally locking me in - to turning very smoothly with much less effort. On top of it, Jesse was able to cut me a new mailbox key on the spot, saving me a trip.

I called Saturday morning and they came out that afternoon. Awesome! George repaired the latch in no time at all and
it was fixed! Was happy I did not have to buy an entirely new front door handle. Good service!

We called on a Saturday to request an appointment to have 3 doorlocks re-keyed. They gave us an appointment for the following Tuesday. Showed up on time, polite, professional, completed the job quickly.

We just moved in to a house with four old school mortise locks with skeleton keys, but the keys were - of course - all missing.

We removed two of these locks and took them to the Lock Works. They tried all of their stock keys and determined they were definitely custom keyed. They said it'd take 1 business day and cost $25-$30 to make 1 key for one of them. They also explained that the same key might fit in these two but might not.

1 business day later they called and reported the one key they made operated both locks. Lucky!

The bill was a higher-than-estimated $40. Boo!

When we got home we discovered that the two locks we'd left behind were keyed differently from the two we happened to take with us. We might go back to have key(s) made for those, as well.

When I called to make an appointment, and they were very courteous and prompt on the phone, and they were able to send someone out within a few days (it wasn't any emergency situation). The serviceman showed up on time (I don't, unfortunately, remember his name) and was able to fix all three doors. The new doorsets were fairly straightforward, had probably not been installed correctly. The French door lock was more of a challenge, but he stuck with it until he had it working perfectly--by fixing the spring and by adjusting the strikeplate and filing things. I don't know what the cost of things like this are supposed to be, but I feel like I got a great deal for my money.

He was on time and great to work with. He didn't grumble when I kept thinking of new things I wanted him to do, even though it was getting late in the afternoon. I'm just sorry I didn't catch his name in case I need anything done in the future.

Their representative, Jesse, arrived within the time period specified. He was friendly, professional and quickly performed the job, in fact he made it look very easy. He recommended that the cylinder be replaced rather than just have keys made; I agreed as an added security measure. I was pleased with the service and would highly recommend them to anyone that needs to replace a lock, re-key etc.

It went well but it was expensive. I liked that they weren't a chain, which is probably why they were so expensive. The worker was knowledgeable. I probably won't use them again just because it was pretty expensive.

The locksmith (Sid?) was courteous and on-time. He alerted me when he had to go out to his truck to re-key the lock, as he had to leave the front door unguarded for about 30 minutes. The estimate was exactly what was charged; it seemed a bit high as I've seen estimates for less from the same vendor, but I guess it was because the lock is no longer manufactured. Sid was happy to answer my questions about maintenance. He was very professional, and I would use San Mateo Lock Works again.

Fabulous. I had the exterior door locks re-keyed after a major construction project because many people had access to the home during that project. Due to my changing work schedule, I had to reschedule the appointment three times, and they were always courteous on the phone and there was no problem rescheduling. They even had Saturday appointments available. They showed up on time and did exactly what they said they would do in very little time. The locks work much better and smoother than before having them re-keyed.

I was very pleased with their service. I had a tenant move out and had not called them far enough in advance for them to go to the building and change the locks. So I decided to remove the locks myself and take them to the store to be rekeyed. When I arrived at the building I was missing a tool to remove one of the locks. When I brought the other locks to them at the store they let me borrow the needed tool so I could remove the lock myself and bring it in to them for it to be rekeyed.

SAN MATEO LOCK WORKS IS WONDERFUL FOR ANYTHING TO DO WITH LOCKS. OUR HOUSE IS OLD and THE MAIN LOCK MECHANISM ON OUR FRONT DOOR IS VERY OLD. THEY KEEP A SUPPLY OF KEYS THAT WORK WITH OUR LOCK. THEY ALSO HELPED MY FATHER "BREAK INTO" OUR HOUSE WHEN WE LEFT FOR VACATION and LEFT AN UPSTAIRS DOOR OPEN DURING A RAGING STORM. THEY WORKED WITH US TO IDENTIFY OUR RIGHT TO ALLOW ENTRY, THEN HELPED US WHEN WE COULDN'T BE THERE.
