Matt Colonell of Obispo Mortgage did for me what 5 other highly recommended loan experts could not. As a self-employed individual, I was repeatedly told to 'report more income' in order to qualify for a home loan. I was told nothing more. It left me in the dark. Like many self-employed individuals these days, I make enough money to pay for a mortgage, but I have no idea how to qualify for a home loan. I had many misconceptions and misinformation that kept me from understanding how to accomplish my goal of owning a home. Even real estate agents were ignorant to the in's and out's of home loans--which is understandable as the rules are constantly changing. I was eager for information but had no one to turn to for concrete answers until I met Matt. Matt clarified my misconceptions and opened new doors and possibilities I once thought were closed. Matt is especially gifted at articulating and delivering difficult and even delicate information. He has broken things down for me to numbers that are tangible. I guess the above comments tell you some of the stuff for this box of comments. I go to their home or they can meet me elsewhere and they get all those supporting documents copied and back to me. They search out the best fit in lender for my needs. Great on holding my hand for when we need to lock the rate or not. All questions are answered quickly and researched when needed. They are very patient and keep me posted as each step goes by. They sit and explain all the different papers that get signed at the end. They can help connect with the appraisal service and work with good escrow people. All went very smoothly on the two loans with my sister who lives in Santa Rosa. I will continue to use them for all loan needs in the future.

Every experience has been satisfying. Home purchases can be exceptionally nerve-wracking, but Matt and Rita have a wonderfully calm and friendly demeanor that has, more than once, helped our family through the rough patches. I cannot imagine using anyone else.
