Focal Point Kitchens started right in our our own kitchen. A stay-at-home mom raising the kids, my wife Liza took on our kitchen renovation project. She enjoyed the in's and out's of the project so much, she and I decided going into the business was the thing to do. The cabinet person on that job inspired her to go to NKBA to develop her natural talents, and that's just what she did. After working for a firm for about a year, we set out to start our own business. The idea moved from our kitchen to the trunk of the family car, as I roamed the peninsula looking for contractors who could use our services. Everything started as word-of-mouth, just as it is today. The trunk of the car soon became a studio office, and as our customers had parties and invited friends over and those friends called us to "do that" in their kitchens, soon we were hanging our shingle on our showroom location in San Mateo.
