C & C Computer Systems

It appears to be a busy, reputable shop, but failure to manage customer inquiries, or lose the paperwork is not a good sign. I gave them three weeks to respond. No, I did not call them back. I would have been better dealing with Calvin.

They were deeply very knowledgeable about different programs being used. They made suggestions about different programs that would satisfy my needs. They took a little longer than what I thought that they needed to correct the problem.

My Frys-purchased HP Desktop PC crashed for the second time in the 18 months since it was purchased, apparently from a virus or malware, despite protection installed against both.  I wasn't happy with the company that recommended the purchase, installed it, and supposedly repaired it the first time, so I went looking for a new computer service/repair shop.  C&C had good reviews on Angies List and Yelp.  I liked that they had a storefront and had all the appearances of a serious business.  I took the PC in just before the July 4 holiday.  When they asked, I told them that this was a back-up computer, and it wasn't a rush.  They called within a couple of days with a reasonable estimate and I authorized the work.  A couple of weeks later, I stopped by to ask about their progress.  I strongly believe that had I asked for it sooner, they would have had it ready sooner.  They obviously had a lot of work with customers coming/going at each visit I made.  When I stopped in, they said they could have it ready the next day, and they did.  The only hitch was that neither of us noticed that the wireless card/adapter was left off the paperwork and not installed (and yes, they had given me a copy of the paperwork when I dropped off the PC and i didn't notice the omission).  I returned the next day and they put in the USB adapter, which was more expensive than the original card that we had discussed.  I was ready to have my PC back, and I felt the USB adapter was potentially more flexible than an internal card, so I didn't balk at the extra $20.  Taking it home once again, I realized that I had to reinstall all my non-original software myself.  I found all the product keys and did so; it was just a little disconcerting to find them all gone without warning.  All that said, my computer is running well.  The inconveniences would have been minimized by better communication.  When I return to C&C, I will be more exact about the time frame I want and would read the work order carefully to avoid the back-and-forth trips.  I got a nice bonus out of it:  In the course of one of our conversations, they offered to help me install an external hard drive on a MacBook that I was having trouble with.  We dropped in with the Mac and the hard drive the next day, and they reformatted it and installed it on the spot for no charge.  Please give these guys a try; they work hard, they are responsive, and they know their business.

I bought a new printer for my home use. Because of physical limitations I was unable to even take it out of the box. I contacted
C & C and Calvin made an appointment for the next day. He arrived slightly outside of the agreed upon window, but only 30 minutes late. He promptly went to work, installed the printer quickly  and was finished in less than an hour. He was neat and clean and very congenial. The Geek Squad wanted $129.00 just to walk in the door, so I was happy with the price and the service. I would use them again.
