.Our 42-inch side by side Sub-Zero (top compressor) had a freezer
temperature of 28F and was running hot in general. Called Air Temp on
Saturday, they were sold out but gave us an appointment between 9-11 on
Monday.
Luis showed up on time and promptly diagnosed the
problem as a failing compressor motor. He gave us the choice of an
after market part now or a manufacturer's original part later the same
day. He recommended an original part, which is what I wanted, so he
left with the promise to return later that day. At about 1:00 I got a
call that he had the part and could be there in 15 minutes, two hours
later the refrigerator was working.
As an aside, the Sub-Zero condenser cooling fan motor is known to stall and I was able to get it going by hitting the blade with a long stick so the repair wasn't urgent. In a pinch I suppose one could even cool the compressor coils with a hair dryer set to no heat.
